Brilliant to see my daughter Sabine’s first article in print in the Ham & High www.hamhigh.co.uk/news/255880..., telling her story about the day she stopped waiting for the bus – and started saving £1,000 a year.

My 5 top tips are:
1. Fit mudguards and mudflaps.
2. Keep it clean. A regular soapy wash is great
3. Keep it lubed.
4. Keep tyres inflated to almost the max pressure.
5. Swap derailleur gears for hub gears.

Don't let anyone tell you people don't cycle in Haringey...figures from Forest & Lime show over 278,000 rides this July in the borough and that doesn't include people riding their own bikes. We need more infrastructure to support pedal power in Haringey www.minutes.haringey.gov.uk/documents/s1...

Great to see how you've ignited the discussion Carla.

@willnorman.co.uk's latest map highlights the big hole in Haringey: no new cycleway network here in a decade – Green Lanes is glaringly absent.
