This is atrocious. I'd like to go off on how our tradition actually reads the בֵּן סוֹרֵר וּמוֹרֶה verses -- Talmud reinterprets that teaching so radically! -- but my righteous indignation at other people misusing our scripture is way less important than simply saying: this is just wrong. Period.

Last night I attended a public education listening tour hosted by Iowa Dem house members. So many teachers reiterated an atmosphere of total fear, surveillance, & reprisal. One elementary teacher said they refer to the Gulf of Mexico as "The Gulf" to avoid even the suspicion of bias.

Two judges denied DOJ's shutdown case stay requests this morning, in NY v. DOJ (over new funding conditions), and Doe v. Noem (over parole termination).

TEXT ORDER: DENIED. The Court is required to continue its constitutional

functions, and therefore the Motion is Stay 69 is DENIED. Department of Justice

contingency plan states: "If a court denies such a request [to stay or continue] and

orders a case to continue, the Government will comply with the court's order, which

would constitute express legal authorization for the activity to continue.". So

Ordered by District Judge Mary S. McElroy on 10/10/2025. (Potter, Carrie)

Weighing the competing interests in this case, the court finds that the harm to Plaintiffs in
staying the proceedings would outweigh the harm of denying the stay, particularly given, per Department of Justice policy, that attorneys may continue to work on this matter following the
denial of this Motion.
I.
Conclusion
For the foregoing reasons, Defendants' Motion for Stay of Proceedings [Doc. No. 183] is
DENIED.
IT IS SO ORDERED.

China ≠ just coal plants and solar exports. The deeper shift: electrifying everything it can. Strategic, because China relies on imported fossil fuels. Coal is still king in the power mix—for now. But the balance is changing year by year.
