i mean yeah in so far as "self defence" as a concept can even applied to abstract entities like states it's arguable that what lenin is proposing here IS "self defence" (not that it matters anyway as communists are not vapid idiot moralists)

and also to be consistent citizens can legally fire back at cops as well and the state has no monopoly on violence? it's all well and good to say this in theory, but considering it's not going to happen and certainly not implemented peacefully, it doesn't actually mean shit in practical terms.
