Drifting from the point by now, but Hammond as portrayed in the original Jurassic Park novel was a very precisent character for this reason. A total manchild who cloned Dinosaurs solely because those two words next to each sounds super epic bacon but no plan for how to look after the actual animals.

Elon Musk does this all the time. Most obviously his love of terms like "mind virus", but also every business decision he makes is motivated by if it would look cool in a fictional movie, rather than what actually makes the most sense to do.

It's funny how they imitate how they think a smart person acts going by science fiction. This really informs the whole personality of a lot of people. They just apply the most literal diegetic interpretation of shit from popular movies to real life, and think they're some esoteric genius.
