There is more to menstrual blood than thought. Decades ago, nobody thought about harvesting menstrual blood for diagnosis. A study from China shows that menstrual blood can be used to screen for HPV, the cause of 90% of cervical cancers.

Interesting trend unfolding in this cycle's special elections (data courtesy of @the-downballot.com). In 2018, Dems way overperformed on average in heavily GOP districts; slightly in more competitive ones; and not at all in heavily Dem districts.

In 2026, they're gangbusters in all three.

I never got a chance to post about this when it came out, so ICYMI too...a poll from Boise State University shows at least 59% of Idahoans support for the ballot initiative to restore abortion rights. Even higher when people are told the name of the initiative. idahocapitalsun.com/2026/01/27/p...

Horrifying and unnerving. DHS sent an administrative subpoena to Google for this retiree's records and even sent armed agents out to his house for the "offense" of writing the following completely anodyne email to a federal prosecutor using an email address he found via Google.

A bad sign indeed. Roger Stone has been involved in right-wing ratfuckery since Nixon and was—like Trump—mentored by Roy Cohn.

I’m trying to imagine how the Salem police and our local Republicans would respond if gangs of Latino men were pulling over white grandmas on their way to pick up birthday cakes, breaking their car windows, throwing them to the ground, then driving off after they didn’t find what they wanted.

An immigration attorney told me there was another one of these false start ICE trips on Omni in December. (I cannot stress enough how bad the logistics planning is at ICE Air Operations HQ in Mesa.) It sat at BWI for ELEVEN HOURS before returning to El Paso. Migrants were not unshackled on arrival.
