Her husband told her that detainees at Broadview had to get up at 5am to get in line for one bathroom. He often peed himself. One time he had to wait until 2pm to use the bathroom. You could only use the bathroom once a day. He said the agents would beat you if you used the bathroom on yourself.

In other words, this was just a drug bust. But since it's part of an anti-immigration operation Trump created through an executive order, there's reason to question its ultimate purpose. In Oregon, another "just a drug bust" turned out to be pretext for an ICE raid. theintercept.com/2025/11/03/i...
Local Cops Aren't Allowed to Help ICE. Did the Feds Dupe Them Into Raids That Rounded Up Immigrants?
The DEA coordinated with ICE before the raid to take cannabis farm workers into custody and deport them — straining Oregon’s sanctuary laws.

🧵 Myth Busting Monday: “Vitamin supplements can help your immune system fight off viruses and bacteria.”
The idea that taking vitamin supplements can “boost” your immune system and help you fight infections has been around for decades. It feels intuitive but the science is far more nuanced.

You know who the real freeloaders in this country are? Not people who rely on SNAP, but corporations whose business model depends on wages so low that taxpayers have to feed their workers.

It's extra frustrating because you can set them up to recognize they lack info and prompt them to admit that. Handing out direct access to a general and unconstrained LLM and pretending that's a product for the public is half the problem...
My frustration is that these tools reply to straightforward requests with made-up bullshit instead of saying "I can't help with that." Today's example: bsky.app/profile/lisa...
I know generative #AI can't be trusted, but I was curious if ChatGPT could transcribe audio as well as Otter. I uploaded a call and mentioned that the speaker had an Italian accent.

Instead of admitting it couldn't process an mp3, ChatGPT MADE UP A FAKE CALL and gave me the transcription of that.

This guy has way too much money. If there would be one reason we should never trust rich people blindly, is that their wealth shields them from the consequences of their stupidity.

Do I support Maduro's dictatorial regime? No!

But you must consider that Súmate, a right-wing movement created by Corina to "monitor elections," began plotting the coup in 2002

Reason?

Mario Guevara should never have been held in detention for performing his journalistic duty.

Mario’s deportation marks a dark day for the Guevara family and for press freedom.

Good piece by Greg Kim about the impacts of Mayor Harrell's policies toward unsheltered people, now scattered and destabilized by the city's sweeps team. The lede anecdote is about a woman who sees the same unhoused person over and over and, instead of talking to them, reports them to the city.
