You do realize it would mean dealing with people and it would be during very (for you) odd hours, right? 😏

He was everything everyone said he'd be: Incredibly talented, smart, funny, good storyteller, great audience interaction. But why did no one tell me about the sad squid song??? 😭😭
b&w shot of Jonathan playing guitar on stage as fans raise their arms and clap Jonathan at one point and for one song pulled out and put on like a crossbody tote bag some sort of instrument that could play percussion, pre-recorded tracks, and other sounds depending on where he touched / pressed it. It was WILD! Sitting at the piano on stage for one song called Pictures of Cats 😽 Holding his hands to his heart as he steps back on stage after the encore to acknowledge the huge applause end of show

Tonight's entertainment is @jonathancoulton.bsky.social and he is spot on time!!

Last, but absolutely in no way least, @orangegmusic.bsky.social! Second time seeing the band and Mark's music is just beautiful. Not only can he write, sing, and play the guitar, he also plays banjo and a MEAN harmonica. Go by their stuff on Bandcamp, too!

(more to follow later)
The band playing under a deep blue sky with hint of pink clouds as dusk falls, lights glowing yellow on stage Closer shot of the band (standup bass, Mark on acoustic guitar, drummer) softly lit by lamps on stage Close up of Cecily, strumming (vs. bowing) with her head thrown back as she plays her stand-up base Lovely warm brown stand-up bass laying on its side waiting to be played in the next set

Next, a new-to-me band called Carcasso, the Fox. I didn't get a chance to talk to them and can't find a way to tag the band, so for now, just take my word for it - they also kicked ass!
4/
Shot of the whole stage with the band - bassist, lead singer/acoustic guitar, drummer, electric guitarist The bassist sitting and playing, looking to his left at the other band members with a smile on his face The electric guitar player - a 20 something y.o. gal in big black boots, wearing fishnets, short shorts, and a crop top with long sleeves, with a short on one side/long on the other blonde with pink tips haircut. Absolutely badass! Another selfie of me facing the stage to show the back of the house at twilight and now two fire pits going in the chill for the audience milling around

Then the guy that was, I can safely say, the surprise of the afternoon for everyone - James from Nashville (Insta @JamesHatenmusic) w/ a mix of folk and rockin' gospel/blues (partic. when guest harmonica Mark came in, again)! Happy he had a CD there I could grab.
3/
From vantage point near the house, James on stage and a glimpse over the fence to next door and Ambridge main street James, right arm raised as he windmill-strums, standing between two bright squares of reflected sunset light off the house windows James on the left making an "I'm very impressed" upside down smile face as Mark again plays guest harmonica on a song James taking a bow towards the audience but also as kudos to Mark, who's looking back and laughing, for his harmonica skills

Skyler (Insta @Sk333mo) was first, followed by @devinrussian.bsky.social (guest harmonica by @orangegmusic.bsky.social). Really good singer-songwriters/guitarists and great guys - nice to have the opp. to meet! Both now Bandcamp Buy List to put in rotation.
2/
Shot of the whole stage with Skyler wearing a green camo baseball cap playing and singing Closer shot showing Skyler with a smile as he looks up at the audience from under his cap Devin on stage, wide stance, singing and playing intensely Devin playing guitar on the left, mark playing harmonica on the right

Okay here we go. The Melrose 923 is a small stage built by Chris in his Ambridge backyard. It's obvs a small venue, but very chill and friendly - had a great time meeting him, his roommate, the others.

Taken from the back of the yard, a wide shot showing a picnic table full of people, but of grass, then paved area with folks sitting on a variety of chairs in front of a raised wooden stage, behind which is a wood fence partially covered with some pretend green ivy for color and contrast Chris, co-owner with Jake of the house and the mastermind behind The Melrose 923, sitting on stage giving away to the crowd as he opens up the gig Looking towards the stage with a guitarist performing, in the Forefront is a big stock pot with a handwritten sign "$20 suggested donation - thank you" Selfie of me sitting and waiting for the show to start, wearing a baseball cap (wasn't sure how sunny it was going to be), showing the back of the duplex behind me with several people sitting at the picnic table and standing around

Will do, thanks.

Here, this one's for you 😊:

@orangegmusic.bsky.social I'm putting together a thread about yesterday's shindig, but I can't find any social media for Carcasso, the Fox. The @ in Chris's Insta story was @dfmontez, but Search didn't find it. Do you have any tag or link I can use?
hidingintheburg.bsky.social
Current view: I probably got this right after you first told me about him. I think it was a Kickstarter? It's so good! Hope he's selling merch - I'll definitely expand my CD library after tonight.
hidingintheburg.bsky.social
From everything I've heard about him, it's going to be a blast!
hidingintheburg.bsky.social
@srj68.bsky.social I got the last seat in the balcony row - Can't wait to see @jonathancoulton.bsky.social for the first time tonight!!

Working a thread for today about a great showcase for local (plus one Nashville-ite) talent I went to and what I wouldn't give for a drafts option here. 🤞🙏🤞

(Hoping the venue sets up a bsky acct today so I can tag them. It's @themelrose923 on Insta - go check out the Story for ystdy's event!)
A small outside backyard stage, empty except for a drum kit, banjo, two guitars, a little table with a tall lamp - waiting for the various artists on the bill One of the musicians sitting and listening to others, the back of his t-shirt says "Leave it on the tracks"
hidingintheburg.bsky.social
Sigh. There's always next season...something our Pittsburgh Pirates have said for years now. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@devinrussian.bsky.social Great meeting you tonight after your fantastic set! More pics tomorrow when I post a thread about the afternoon.
Two musicians on an small outside stage, one with a guitar gesturing with both hands and a big smile towards the other who is holding a harmonica

Shoot the Moon is a little known, but heart-wrenchingly wonderful, movie starring Diane and Albert Finney. Saw it decades ago, never forgot it. RIP to one who gave everything to the camera.

We're rooting for the Cubs, too, because our brother-in-law is from Chicago. Currently in the 6th, Milwaukee up by 1. C'mon Cubbies, you can do it!

I was SO taken aback bc they absolutely did NOT market it as horror. Wouldn't have paid to see it if I'd known about that one scene at the end.
