Hello RTE.

Please stop advertising or promoting shows on twitter.

I object to my tv license fee being used to denigrate Ireland and the EU.

If I think about the fact this is even a question that has to be asked I think I'd pack it all in and go live in woods
Grok is being used to create sexualised images of women and child abuse material which are posted on X.

So, why is the Department of Education still posting images of children to X?

If Government Departments are going to continue to use X, can they at least stop posting images of children?

Oh thank you for giving me the perfect argument for never using AI

Ethics is one thing, but money and IP is going to make it Much more convincing
Lmao the bubble is fit to burst, boys

This is a hysterical and insane choice, I hope they follow through!

This is a global far right power grab, so the sooner everybody realizes that and puts aside their deeply outdated notions around national identity, which got us here to begin with, the better. The only way out is through, but the only way through is all of us fighting these climate warlords together

The Eternal September crowd were in fact telling people to STOP using their stuff.

Mmm.. The desperation. :)
I was present for the birth of the web, the explosion of personal sites, and the blogging revolution, and you know what we never had to do? Beg people to use our shit.

Goodness. Rascal has the juice right now, I'll say that.

Just as well they're not publishing in the UK because libel tourism is very much a thing. Hence the redactions.

Please feel free to NOT fill in the blanks! :)

In classic AI goon he compares a useful tech, which has a clear purpose, with the rubber omnispanner that is AI.

Plumbing has an obvious use case and a track record.

There are no non criminal uses for gAI.

Or he'd name them.
AI-assisted software engineering is like the flush toilet 😄

I just read an article about "dumb phones." There is a class of people who have decided that smartphones are evil, so they've returned to phone technology circa 1990. No apps. No big screen or QWERTY keyboard. Just a phone (and txt).

Using gAI is peak loser behaviour. 'i only use it for..' Loser behaviour. 'its just for...' Loser. Behaviour.

So is supporting a project you know has used gAI by the way.

Don't be a loser.

Istock.
I love how this stock site uses "We don't offer AI slop" as a selling point and quality indicator. Hope it means there is a wider demand for that.

I like to highlight Robert Smallbones to people because he was an administrator and diplomat who, faced with the horrors of antisemitism and abduction in Germany, did what he could.

He wasn't perfect. His views on homosexuality were not great, even for the time.

But he saw wrong, and he acted /END

Smallbones was horrified. In Germany he witnessed increasing state violence against Jews. He wrote constant warnings to the Foreign Office.

The Nazis officially complained, after Smallbones daughter horse-whipped a Gestapo officer to try and stop the abduction of a Jewish man on the street. /3

Well... That's official then...
I think we’ve got better and more culturally-varied street food than I could have imagined, cool jackets galore, and drugs that make us think we’re really fast and strong before they kill us.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

One of the things I love about #Bluesky is that this morning I enjoyed a thread about sheep pictures so much I ended up following @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social and buying one of his books - Villager.
The connections in this place are whimsical and wonderful.
I've removed the paywall permanently from this piece, which is a chapter from my novel Villager, told entirely in the form of an online village message board. If you like it, you'll probably like the book. If you don't, you won't...

Yesterday we were listening to residents in Freemantle. We heard about the issues people are most passionate about. From outrageous parking charge increases to a poorly marked road and even speeding which nothing has been done about. The council should be putting safety and the cost of living first.

I was in a star pattern game. The GM didn't call upon my character to speak so I got some work done instead.

The worst part was the other players wanted to be in the star pattern as well.

Absolutely weird and no regrets leaving that game except time wasted.

Ohhh no it's this thing again.

This has been used to downplay / dismiss the growth of data centres since the IEA put it in their 2024 WEO. But if anything it *highlights* how remarkable the growth is.

Transport, cooling, heating - all critical things. DC growth? Explain why that's critical......
