I worked in retail when GTA V came out and the game and the strategy guide came in their own boxes with giant yellow tape with 'DO NOT OPEN BEFORE 00:00 ON (launch date)' on it. We had to open them before then to check the inventory 🤷

It’s not about being smug, or right, or a hipster. For me as someone who’s been badly burned it’s a deep mistrust. It’s the “why now?” of it all. Like, people who suddenly realised Trump is a fascist yesterday - why now? Why weren’t the million other things your tipping point?
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?
