Simply titled 'smoke' because for most of the summer here in Ontario our sunsets were hazy. Lake Huron on the peninsula still rules in terms of watching them. Also, I vowed never to paint a sunset and look what this landscape made me do.

In rural areas A LOT of people shop through Amazon but it is a Canada Postal outlet where they pick up their packages, as Amazon won't deliver to rural addresses. So, what happens to all that if CP closes rural offices? Amalgamating into one place will be a nightmare, these are not big spaces.

While I love the First Nations idea of seven generations I wouldn't assume that we take that on literally but we should at least remember that we only know about Da Vinci because societies over time kept his work in stable, good condition. It is a hopeful thing to do.

Hey @canadapostcorp.bsky.social don't close rural post offices. They are community hubs and vital to our health and welfare.

Brilliant, clear eyed view of far right thinking seeping into all manner of life now. It's too late to stop this tide. Progressives continue to fight amongst themselves as money + extremism takes over.

Edvard Munch was 18, a student at the Royal School of Drawing in Oslo when he completed this self-portrait in 1882, the first of many hundreds over the course of his life. For a painter interested in the mystery of identity, there was no richer subject than his ever-changing self.

Damn! The observation stack at Battersea Power Station is closed until Nov. I really wanted to get the same view that Pink Floyd's pig had...

Christian persecution in America is best defined by this image: No actual struggle, wearing clothes that cost more than my entire wardrobe, polished cross instead of rugged, and surrounded by crowds of fellow hypocrites cheering on bigotry who believe they're the victims.

Bearing your cross is a lot easier with wheels.
A man in a suit walks across a stadium floor carrying a large wooden cross on wheels. The stands are full of people, a big screen shows musicians performing, and a banner overhead reads “Building a Legacy, Remembering Charlie Kirk.” Fox News logo is in the corner.

Gee, I guess having everything owned by like five companies is kind of a problem if you vote in a petty fascist for president. Hundreds of people work for both Colbert/Kimmel so really this is yet another attack on ordinary working people too. youtu.be/ZdGLJly6P7c?...

A great movie and this is awesome to know. It would be good to start lists like this where Hollywood etc. made real people Americans instead of who they should have been. 🤔

The Great Escape is one of the most famous movies from the 1960s.
Based off a true story, the film greatly exaggerated American involvement.
In reality, one of the main figures of the escape was Canadian, along with the 150 Canadians who assisted.
This is the story.

A middle-aged man with short, neatly combed gray hair, piercing blue eyes, and a slight smile rides a vintage olive-green motorcycle in a sunny, open landscape. He wears a loose-fitting navy blue sweatshirt with the sleeves rolled up, khaki chinos, and brown boots, leaning casually on the handlebars with his right hand. The motorcycle has a round headlight, black leather seat, and a license plate reading "WH-13371." In the background, wooden corrals and fences frame a grassy field under a clear blue sky, with distant snow-capped mountains (resembling the Tetons) on the horizon.

I am fairly convinced at this point that every world leader who has to deal with the US president takes a Lorazepam or just gets regular high as s*** before having to listen to him at any state function. #UK #USA

The thing about First Nations stories is that this kind of short description belies a massively complex situation that has left bitterness to this day.

The media is turning this murder which seems to me a fairly regular occurrence south of the border into some kind of mass hysteria. Sad to see our House have to wade into this... if that MP hadn't done this, it wouldn't have happened. Had the Liberals not stood up, it would have been worse.

Sorry it was not the Liberals - it was introduced by Alberta Conservative MP who made it about free speech and his family - and the whole house applauded. How could they not the way she phrased it.

Bet they never heard of him before he was shot.
