We live in a country where the government honors insurrectionists who sacked the Capitol, and defines peaceful protest, even before it occurs, to be terrorism.
They know their position is weak, they know they are unpopular, which is why they are seeking to stamp out dissent.

Today my daughter's preschool is holding a farewell assembly for one of her classmates whose mother has no choice but to self deport. The school is hoping it will be joyful in tone, so we might make this less upsetting for this 3 year old.

There's just no words for the uselessness of this cruelty.

All variants of fascism are concerned with the management of perception, but this administration's specific brand of fascism is especially performative.

They focus on intimidating and demoralizing because it is what they know best—and because it is not clear that they could win an actual fight.

It's Safer in the Front
