Join Bike Hoboken, @hudcostreets.org, and Mr. Traffic Cone this Saturday for the annual Hoboken Trunk or Treat, hosted by FamilyHoodNJ and the Hoboken Housing Authority. There will be candy, a costume contest and plenty of games! We can’t wait to see you there!

@govmurphy.bsky.social's widening of the I-78 Turnpike Extension is predicted to only save drivers 3 minutes and cost $10.7 billion. Horrible to see this continue.
HUGE news from the Hudson Valley — the Route 17 expansion is on pause!

The Route 17 project would only save drivers 6 minutes and cost billions. Great to see this happen.

Rachel Weinberger in @nysfocus.bsky.social:
Hochul Hits Pause on Hudson Valley Highway Expansion
Reporting from New York Focus last year found that the project would save drivers six minutes max, at a cost of $1.3 billion.

Jersey City is considering lowering the speed limit from 25mph to 20mph. The evidence is strong that Twenty is Plenty. When Seattle lowered their speed limit from 25mph to 20mph injury crashes decreased by 17%: www.iihs.org/news/detail/...

Big step forward coming for #Hoboken! When Grand Street is resurfaced in the coming weeks, the city will pilot the ever protected bike lane through the interior of Hoboken! How exciting!

@mikiesherrill.bsky.social been waiting for Light Rail to Westside for 20 minutes in the wind and rain. It’s rush hour and 4 trains already went pass for other destinations not my own.

When do you think you can join me in commuting to and from work to get my vote?

Shirt I illustrated for @hudcostreets.org is out in the wild, and I love how it turned out. So many of us in Hudson County rely on NJ Transit, PATH trains, and our bikes to get around. We're one of the most densely populated places in the U.S., and our transportation infrastructure ain't cutting it.

Let there be light! On the bike lane! (& sidewalks, and murals.) Today #JerseyCity lit the new streetlights in the once-forbidding areas under the overpass at 12th Street., over the Coles Street curb-raised lane & around the corner by the big murals. The bit under the 14th St. bridge is lit now too.
Busways are transforming New York City. We need fast bus service in Hudson County too.
Faster buses in midtown are arriving soon! Implementation of the 34th Street Busway is scheduled to start in the second week of October, and be completed by November or December.

This hard-won victory for hard-working commuters would not be possible without your advocacy.

I remember 2019. The promises were, they had to do this work and then everything would be great. It wasn't, maybe the pandemic had something to do with it, and then they started more work. I just want service levels to be normal.

Governor Murphy has defunded investment in NJ Transit by $2.4B over 10 years while increasing funding for highway expansions to $24B over 10 years. It is no accident our trains and buses are constantly breaking down.

This Friday, let’s celebrate streets for people! We’ll observe Park(ing) Day, an annual, global tradition, by turning 3 Jersey City parking spaces into pocket parks for the day, featuring food, games, activities, and no-cost bike tune-ups. 1/3

Side-by-side comparison of the Line 1 variant that terminates at Exchange Pl and the one that terminates at JSQ. Just as I suspected, the JSQ variant as more service.

Seattle’s human population is growing fast, but its car population has stalled out. Between 2017 and 2023, Seattle added 35,000 households, but just 3,300 cars, new Census data has revealed — in news that is music to urbanists' ears.
Seattle's Human Population Is Up, But Its Car Population Isn't — Streetsblog USA
Urbanists have long been making that case that growth in Seattle is the most climate-friendly and easiest to support with transit and infrastructure. And it's happening.

I can’t believe how crowded that 119 was. It felt like there were 10 people at every other stop on Central. We got to Hoboken and there was probably 10 or more people waiting and they driver had to pass them up.

Curious how often these "signal problems" seem to happen just at the start of a peak window. Does PA get an alert overnight for these and then wait for the morning shift to respond? #njisbroken @govmurphy.bsky.social
