Pixel botherer and waveform worrier. Keen TTRPG player and GM. Plays guitar and synths.
I'd never seen it described like this before but it does make a hell of a lot of sense
With absolutely no expertise in Tarantino and lots of expertise in film bros, my theory has always been that he wasn’t the movie guru of that video store: one of his co-workers was and he has been coasting on regurgitating that guy’s taste for decades but he ran out ten, fifteen years ago.

There’s this core contradiction in RPG design where the medium is scrappy as hell, and requires little more than some scribbles and a dream, but the commercial products are pricey and tremendously polished.

It’s easy to see, and upon seeing it, the first instinct is usually that Something Is Wrong.

I enjoyed the first episode a lot. I'll keep watching.
I'm cautiously looking forward to The War Between The Land And The Sea. Such a rubbish title though. I keep reading the abbreviation of it as TWATBLAST, which would be a quite unusual Dr Who spinoff

(No I have not seen the Zygon soft porn movie, but I am aware of it)

Reading The House on the Borderland. Brilliant stuff - a story within a story within a story, with unreliable narrators the whole way down.

I'm really enjoying Alien: Earth - up to episode 6 now - and the thing that is tickling me most is how insanely incompetent and dim literally everyone apart from Kirsch* is. I can see why people find it irritating, but it is legitimately hilarious tbh.

*And the sheep-eyeball thing, she's cool

Oh OH! So exciting! After our annual UXB In The Leam day this year, I thought we’d be done with historic ordnance in these parts, but LOOK: www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/local-n...

Excellent game of Rebel Twilight tonight! Thanks to @fenrisgames.com for running and @zos93.bsky.social @dozy139.bsky.social & @andyhemming.bsky.social - we did the Rebel Alliance proud! We liberated a town with some considerable style (and Fenk’s very big missile)

Discord is *still* not working on my phone, even after rebooting the device! Delete the app and reinstall, I guess?

i agree with this
People are calling this “lazy” which I think is kind of missing what’s going on here. Increasingly convinced that the comparable technology, in how it interacts with the human nervous system, is the slot machine.

Absolutely! Weird magic adds mystery! Think of Ursula K. Le Guin's "Earthsea"—magic is tied to the true names of things. It feels alive! What’s your favorite unconventional magic? 🪐📚 #Fantasy #Magic
Which is something I love! I actually hate magic systems that are overly formalised and categorised. You might as well be writing science fiction at that point. Magic should be *weird*

So I've been reading a bunch of Clark Ashton Smith lately (because I am very interested in fantasy written before Tolkien loomed over the entire genre) and he's so good. Just fantastic stuff. I am, however, rather sad that he only wrote two stories about the asshole sorcerer Maal Dweb, he's great

In honour of Dr Who's 62nd anniversary, we watched The Horror of Fang Rock tonight.

By far the most Lovecraftian episode, I reckon, and the fact that everybody dies apart from the Doctor and Leela really sells it
