I said this before: I'm pretty sure 2 Muslim terrorists with links to IS were not influenced by the Bridge March against genocide.
The conservatives forces using the Bondi Massacre to instigate a crackdown of freedoms of speech and the right to assembly are completely disgusting.

Protesting genocide and the actions of the Netanyahu Israeli govt are not antisemitic.

The vast majority of Australians, everyone I've spoken to, my Jewish friends, my Muslim friends, want to just be good to one another in this moment, and avoid inflaming the endless blame cycle.

A loud minority want otherwise. Unfortunately they're among the loudest in the nation
The press has an important role to play in stabilising the nation, by, eg., highlighting examples of unity and cooperation between the Jewish and Muslim communities. As it stands, they all seem to be beating the drums of racial tension. It is irresponsible and it must stop.

The idea that massive crackdown on anti-genocide protests in universities, and refusing to support Palestinian statehood would have somehow prevented last Sunday's terror attack in Bondi has already infected Aus media so deep that they're taking it as a truism

Latest evidence is that Bondi massacre exposes a failure of Australia’s national and state security: shooters recently visited Phillipines (suspected IS terror training); ASIO discontinued monitoring in 2019; shooter was registered as a NSW gun owner in 2023. No shared intel.

If the conservatives in Australia don't pull back their culture war bullshit over this, the Australian public will blowback. I've been involved/done polling on how ostensibly foreign issues debated in Australia are politically perceived domestically for 30 years. (1/2)

We now know major flaws in our security framework contributed to the Bondi atrocity. Fixing them isn't a distraction — it's urgent.

I’ve just blocked a bunch of people and this is why:

They participated in an attempt at a coordinated pile-on against me.

Pile-ons are malicious behaviour intended to harm. I am not willing to stay connected to people who take part in that.

I’m not open to debate about my own safety.

The first response by law enforcement and security of any failure is where they roll out the old thin blue line, through the usual suspects, where the line is always just wide enough to create a blindfold. The government should make it long enough to hang all the failures at once with.
Very few politicians are willing to state the obvious - a failure of Australia's intelligence apparatus.

Father/son terrorist attack, with long links to Islamic State characters and IS flags in the car?

Nothing to see here apparantly.

Mark Dreyfus, a Jewish Labor MP, seemed flabbergasted when asked on Radio National whether immigration is more of an issue than gun control in relation to the Bondi attack, writes Crystal Andrews.
Andrew Bolt instantly blamed Bondi atrocity on immigration. It follows a global right-wing script
While the predictable narrative is pushed by a small group of right-wing voices — regardless of context or relevance — it’s readily amplified to the masses by mainstream media.

Now we live in a city that has experienced a racially targeted mass-casualty terror attack. There is a pervasive sadness and sense of something lost. The fall-out so far has been predictable and depressing. We'd prefer the focus to be on grief and reflection, not blame, but that's not how it goes.

If you're scared this tragedy will by weaponised by those pushing hatred, division & control, same. It's a pattern that can change nations. We've already seen Netanyahu claim the Muslim who charged the shooters was Jewish. Empathy, patience and truth. Everything else is unhelpful
