Making a thread keeping track of each time my thesis is proved right in the news.

"The proletarianized military now has to rely on the public’s good will for their benefits and the data shows they are on borrowed time."

One of my specific beefs with the Unit X and Detachment 201 instant LTCs is they switch very quickly from focusing on tech to their fancy ideas on readiness.

"I streamlined a process that saves a few million dollars. I think we should BRING BACK THE DRAFT."

#civmilsky are civ-mil relations good when a Senator is hoping the military will save us from civilian leaders?
Right wingers losing it b/c Sen. Mark Warner said: "I think in many ways the uniformed military may help save us from this president & his lame people like Hegseth because I think their commitment is to the Constitution & obviously not to Trump." bluevirginia.us/2025/12/vide...

Please defense contractor lobby save us! Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics please!
US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau today slammed European NATO allies for prioritizing their own defense industry over American arms suppliers, according to three NATO diplomats.

Another part of Hegseth's War on Warriors was that he approved of military leaders disobeying orders on vaccination or allowing gays to serve.

I really hope we don't have a repeat of the Abu Ghraib prosecution where only enlisted people got sent to prison, officers were given immunity to get higher ups who got off and the prosecutions didn't go any higher.
Entire Chain of Command Could Be Held Liable for Killing Boat Strike Survivors, Sources Say

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s actions could spark investigations for war crimes or outright murder, sources told The Intercept.

While we're on Huntington slander:

Vagts wrote in 1937 "the palpable pretense of making the army 'unpolitical' was one of the governing tricks of the Prussian conservatives...claimed for themselves the sole expertness in military and diplomatic questions"

Have we come up for a name for articles where the author just compiles internet posts they agree with so they can report their opinion as news?

Opinion laundering?

It’s like worse than stenography imo
A game where you can do anything and they’re mad that people are doing anything.

Pretty sure Newsom activated national guard to build housing
Can the military build the housing, not like the housing stock quality can get worse

There really should be a regulation that any soldier has a right to request that any order be given to them in writing signed off by the commander and a JAG officer.

It is veterans’ duty to get as much disability as possible for anything except what is, in the words of Major General Hodson, “unequivocally not service connected”

Chat I’m beginning to think having millions of people subject to an extra-constitutional judicial system might be bad for democracy.

My "Not Enron" T-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my shirt.
In the memo, “Nvidia also responds to claims that the ‘current situation is analogous to historical accounting frauds (Enron, WorldCom, Lucent) that featured vendor financing and SPVs [special purpose vehicles.)’”

Law of War Manual 2023 if anyone cares: 🧵

18.3.2 Refuse to Comply With Clearly Illegal Orders to Commit Law of War Violations. Members of the armed forces must refuse to comply with clearly illegal orders to commit law of
war violations.

It would be a shame if a certain someone was recalled and punished by the UCMJ for all his adultery.
November 24, 2025 at 5:45 PM
Can we finally start a discussion about how insanely, unnecessarily anti-constitutional the UCMJ/courts martial are?

It's past time for reform.

Many egregious cases of command influence, vindictive prosecution that were only abandoned because of mass public / congressional scrutiny.
November 24, 2025 at 5:43 PM
Maybe we need a UCMJ article directed at officers making it specifically a crime to issue illegal orders.
November 24, 2025 at 4:32 PM
IMO the divide between the two oaths is a distinction without a difference. All soldiers have a duty to disobey orders. The difference is that officers can resign rather than carry them out. When the order gets to the Es, they face military prison either way.

Are we going to talk about how courts martial and COMA do in fact accept "just following orders" as a defense?

It may be time to start considering civilianizing justice for military members.

What is also crazy is where / when they are stationed around the city. Last Saturday night I went out at 7pm. There were four soldiers at the Mt Vernon Place metro where an intern was killed recently. But when I came back at 11pm (the time they should be there if any!) there were none.
"I have been on two humanitarian-esque missions with the guard, which were awesome, doing the things you see on the commercial, helping these communities," says J. "And then you want me to go pick up trash and dissuade homeless people in D.C. at gunpoint. Like, no dude.“
