Time to introduce a character from BRIDES IN THE DARK who I haven't talked about much yet. Meet Fay, Patrick's mother. Sweet-tempered with her son, but quiet and scheming and ruthless when she needs to be, Fay never shows her full hand to anybody.

THE UNWELCOME was my first major release (my first two books were a college project and an accidental novella) so while it's not really my debut, it holds a special place in my heart as my first... something. I dunno. It feels significant somehow.

Stella usually has what the book calls a "mocking" personality, so seeing her so demure is a rarity.

5 Facts About BRIDES IN THE DARK:

1. I came up with the title first! It's a play on the TTRPG system "Blades in the Dark," and once I had a name like that, I challenged myself to come up with a story that suited it.

5. I wrote it in 26 days! I was obsessed with this story while I was writing it, and cranked out the first draft faster than I've ever written anything in my life.
