Hopkin Checklist places it as 'MODERATELY COMMON IN SOUTHERN ENGLAND', though since then, many more records have populated the map across the midlands.

Just seen a red kite up close, hovering near to the ground, for the first time, holy SHIT!!
Wingspan is larger than myself laid horizontally by a fair margin. Hopefully I'll see more of them outside of Oxfordshire + N. Yorkshire next year, they definitely seem to be venturing out past the pennines.
