Absolute know-nothing clown shit from Smith. I was (and remain) in the sour spot in terms of subsidies. Even the bad version of aca was less than half of buying it myself. I quit a bad job and started my own shop. And yeah, til-25 insurance give my two oldest breathing room I didn't have after SUNY.

I think something a lot of middle aged to elderly guys learn the hard way is if your body's weight distribution has changed somewhat since the last time you've done any strenuous exercise, balance, running and throwing punches are not skills that last forever or come right back. Rule yourself thus.

My slight disagreement with you is this. It couldn't have been a general strike. Not now. But maybe it's a step towards one. We're terrible at this but we maybe are starting to try.

I was able to find mention of its loss in a Wikipedia article on crown jewels; if by chance you have not seen it here it is as well as a description of the looting in which it was possibly lost by the burgundians. Apologies if you've seen them before. I guess it's a business-casual crown?

The Dukes of Burgundy had a jewelled
"Ducal Hat" rather than a formal crown which they wore for ceremonial occasions.
This hat was lost by Charles the Bold at the Battle of Grandson in 1476 when his army was routed and his baggage train was captured by the Swiss. After the battle it came into the hands of the canton of Basel,
which hid it. Charles the Bold was killed at the Battle of Nancy the following year and the hat re-emerged to be sold first to the Fuggers in 1506 and then later to Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor. What happened to the hat after this is not known.
Presumably, after this it was kept for a while by successive emperors (particularly
Emperor Charles V who was also the Duke of Burgundy) but at some point it was lost or broken up.(17]

Last time I saw him being a step up behind him on an escalator down into Penn maybe 2019? Pre-pandemic. It was a point where I mighta felt comfortable just shouting him out a little as we walked separate ways but I was just kinda astonished he was just doing his thing & couldn't. It was great.

You're right. Inasfar as there are parallels, Clinton & Blair practiced a triangulation that was such a lurch to the right that it deranged the soul of their parties. The guys who came up in that era & their protégés are built to negotiate, not fight & not govern. Their counterparts are psychopaths.

#nokings in Hudson NY. The first sign is my pal who I almost drowned with. It's pretty precise. I loved the guy with the mint mini-dv camera I hope his film comes out awesome. This county has a surprising number of krishnacore musicians turned yogis. They're cool. Crowd was v farmers market & nice.💜

My pal has a really nice sign that reads we the people not we the billionaires/no king, no dictators/uphold the constitution/are we great yet? Because I just feel embarrassed. We live across the street from me and I'm back from the road aways so people just throw bottles over the fence at my signs but they'll stop and holler at him, and we get a lot of neutral drops and engine braking as people go by. It's a small road in a small village but it's probably every weekend day and maybe once or twice on workdays. Fuckin Alabama with snow.

I don't like to guess but this park is a square block and it was uncomfortably full and most paths were blocked so idk a thousand? 600? Fucked if I know. It looks like the city looks minus the people who can't spare a Saturday morning so it was a mix of people but affluent over 65 largely white folks were over-represented demographically. Only one actual nut who would glitch out and start hollering during speeches but her heart was in the right place, very little engine revving, only got flipped off once (by a guy in a sweet old Pontiac idk if that made it better or worse but like all of my haters he is not living as well as me so)

And I've seen him in his greasy red windbreaker on the subway a dozen times or more since 1983 when I started riding the subway by myself as a kid.
It's hilarious that angels patrols used to be about as regular as showtime or the mariachi guys. Not everyday but not a surprise. City was a trip.

One of the things that I think would surprise newer arrivals to the city as well as younger New Yorkers is that Curtis Sliwa's strangest stories are things that would be like fourth page in the metro section. Nobody would blink an eye. That's just what New York was like.
