I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. The words thankfully flowed, the emperor was right you just have to ket the hate flow through you
'they work hard only on artifice and so does the film'. God DAMN this is great writing. Thank you for it.

No Other Choice was a bit of a misstep for Park Chan-wook, but Lee Byung-hun...Not only are my best films of the year starting to take shape, but my best performances and Lee is def amongst them, and if it were of the decade, my guess is he'd still be.

A ★★★½ review of No Other Choice (2025)
"Its not the losing your job its how you handle it" No other Choice involves Jazz in its sound and in its movements, and takes just about as much shape in its cinematic form as the music does in sound...

The Secret Agent BTW is to me what exactly what I wanted but was missing from OBAA. These films are pretty similar considering they dont feel anything alike, but the Filho's film is far more willing to take it there and to fill in what OBAA voids..

A ★★★★★ review of The Secret Agent (2025)
Its interesting I went into this blind, mostly wondering if I would fall asleep during the film and what tactics I might use to stay awake, I needed none. I found myself thinking about OBAA quite a bi...

Seyfried is absolutely amongst the best performances this year in a film that is definitely one of my favorites of the year.

Skakskskskskskjjjj Love the Donen line, but also...CORRECT
And this is why I’ve refused to watch these wicked movies. Jon Chu couldn’t direct a musical if Stanley Donen was literally telling him what to do! Plus I don’t like Cynthia!
I HATE the Wicked films and everything they stand for which is mostly nothing...I go extra long (for a LB review at least) on what I hate..

Wicked the Musical is the already pacified, disneyfied, and arguably sexist version of a DEEPLY political book that makes its stance on morality quite clear— this movie version of the disneyfied musical outdoes itself to erase any intentional depth.

I ADORE this Wicked review!

“A second act furnishes context in an unfinished house” sums up exactly how I felt leaving Part 2 and having a deep understanding and love for the source material.

A ★½ review of Wicked: For Good (2025)
The craven profit driven split of this IP into two films poses insufferably in front of poorly conposed shots stridently confident of its quality. A second act furnishes context in an unfinished house...

Mosley, man. You really can't help but see his words even in film adaptations, his prose is rich & deep & natural, you know...? It almost whispers to you from the screen. Cheadle as Mouse almost feels like Mosley met him in a dream, woke up, and started scribbling furiously before he could forget.

Mouse was one of those characters who could have taken over the series if Mosley had let him, like Lawrence Block's Mick Ballou and James Lee Burke's Clete Purcel.

Babyyayyyy, now, I always give this one to him and MOSLEY because Mouse was an incredible character ON THE PAGE, but yeah, absofuckinglutely.
November 30, 2025 at 3:28 PM
I hang on his every word. Hard to pick a pure favorite character from this film because everyone is so good and cast exceptionally well, but Cheadle is certainly one of them
I love him in this so much. I love how he always outshine Clooney in every movie they're in together. 😭😭😭

Revisiting Out of Sight paying special attention to Cheadle's Maurice "Snoop" Miller ...the cold void of emotion in his eyes that appears out over the warmth of his smile..with the films overall tone and Cheadles performance its easy to forget Snoop is the most dangerous person in this film..

This is the most embarrassing thing I've read today. "Has been sending millennial cinephiles into critical paroxysms" followed by “mumblecore Shakespeare for the TikTok generation.” Generational mad-libs.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

The new film “Hamnet” offers up a vision of William Shakespeare as “Marlon Brando in Elizabethan drag,” writes Drew Lichtenberg. While this character may appeal to some, it “played to me like mumblecore Shakespeare, conceived for the TikTok generation.”
Opinion | ‘Hamnet’ Reimagines Shakespeare for the TikTok Generation
Our love of his plays have led to a centuries-long fascination with the writer. So why does each new fictional iteration get his life so wrong?

Thrilled to see this finally announced - I wrote a booklet essay for the release about the interesting music in the film, both classical pieces and score by Trevor Jones.
Behold, the Sword of Power! Excalibur! For anyone waiting for things from me, this is why: my brain has been consumed by John Boorman and Excalibur, both of them dear to my heart. The restoration is stunning, and finally presents the film in the right aspect ratio on home video... 🧵1/8
