The idea that the US Constitution vests nearly absolute power in one person, in part because presidential elections are the main way govt is accountable to the people, is so crazy, illogical, ahistorical it shouldn’t need rebutting.

But here we are, and @donmoyn.bsky.social explains why it’s wrong.
At will? Whose will?
Removing independent agency heads is part of a broader assault on a nonpartisan government

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
Torture Techniques from CIA Black Sites Were Used at Alligator Alcatraz
Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

It appears that the goal is one giant media company controlled by "Friends of the State."
Jared Kushner's involvement was "not mentioned in Paramount's press release on Monday morning about its $108 billion bid, nor were participating sovereign wealth funds from Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Qatar."

Trump and Putin national security strategies align perfectly. How is that possible? This headline captures the moment we find ourselves in: “The Kremlin praises new US security strategy as Russian strikes kill 4 in Ukraine.”

The “Throw Rug of nightmares”, for fish anyway.
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

Basically, a former Republican FBI director took a job that made him management for the Russian mob.

Sound familiar?

On top of that, Sessions' son is now a Republican congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives for Texas.

🧵Just remember—Reagan appointed a crooked dirtbag named William S. Sessions to run the FBI.

By the time Clinton got into office, allegations of misconduct were piling up, so Sessions was fired.

He then became the personal attorney of the boss-of-all-bosses of the Russian mob, Semion Mogelevich.

You are ABSOLUTELY NOT going to regret listening to this bird:
A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.

Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

A bird forever warning people: "A werewolf!" (just in case of werewolves).

Stunning footage from earlier today, when the new Kilauea eruption covered the USGS Webcam 3, which is situated in the Halemaʻumaʻu crater near the southern rim of the much larger Kilauea caldera.

This *isn't* what the people of Pompeii saw.

But it's not very far off.
