Re-introducing myself-a writer/editor/reviewer/comic aficionado.
Town & Train is my small-town Canadian horror novel. Fear Itself (also Lethe Press) is my short-story collection.
Watching Boots (Netflix). Features winsome actors (incl. lead Miles Heizer),
a banger early 1990's soundtrack, intrigue and fourth-wall breakages. Altho it's about US marines, as a former army reservist, I connect with the themes of basic training & brotherly bonding & loneliness.

JoAnna Mendoza is a queer former USMC drill instructor, like in the new Netflix show “Boots” (that Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon called “woke garbage”), and she’s running for Congress in Arizona.

Tough month, for many reasons, but doing the writing work. Book review for @strangehorizons.bsky.social of
Matthew James Jones' fantastical cautionary novel about war, Predators, Reapers & Deadlier Creatures (Toronto's Double Dagger Books) and my second short-story collection edits to look at.

My latest at @comicsjournal.bsky.social: I talked to @oglaf.bsky.social! Not the character, but rather, the people who create it.

They don't do many interviews, so this was a real treat. They're funny people! Turns out they're not super private, just...really bad at PR?
