As I lead my party around the churches of Hampshire I introduced them to Shedfield designed by local architect John Colson who took his inspiration from Ruskin’s The Stones of Venice

Carmunnock Parish Church in Glasgow. Rebuilt in the 1760s, it's possibly based on a pre-reformation religious site. The main entrance is through the small door under the stairs, while the stairs themselves lead up to one of the upper galleries.

The height of this #DoorInMidAir shows that the rood loft was somewhat higher than the current parclose (and rood screen) are now. Perhaps this isn't the original screen or maybe the rood loft was a separate structure above, now lost #StMaryCannington #Somerset #AdoorableThursday

Crikey! Meet Irwin’s snapping turtle. The late Steve Irwin, and his father Bob, spotted this rare reptile in the early 1990s & contacted herpetologist John Cann. He was the first to describe this species—and he named it after the Irwins.
