There are billions of dollars of data center projects currently underway in the United States, with hundreds of billions of dollars more planned. This pitch is going over great with many politicians — but it’s falling flat with a large and growing coalition of regular people.
America’s war on data centers is coming

Today in History, 1941: Hitler issues his “Night and Fog” (Nacht und Nebel) decree, ordering that members of the resistance working to undermine the Nazi military be arrested and brought for trial by special courts, circumventing conventions governing the treatment of prisoners. /1

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:

Food banks need your donations more than ever, but PLEASE do NOT donate anything that is more than four years past the date printed on the can! Anything that old must be thrown away, but only after a volunteer wastes their time searching for that date. Cash donations are ALWAYS appreciated!
"I have never seen the line this long at this food bank, This is 4x the size of every previous year...the line wraps around the building a second time..Everyone is freezing and an older lady in line had to be taken inside because she looked like she was about to pass out from being too cold..."

If you don't believe that vaccines work and are safe, take a walk through a 19th-century cemetery.
Science matters. Washington state stands united with our partner states and medical experts to put public health and safety before politics. The hepatitis B vaccine at birth has been recommended and administered for decades — it is a proven, essential tool for protecting our communities.
WCHA disagrees with CDC’s Advisory Committee’s change to decades-long vaccine recommendation that has reduced pediatric hepatitis B infections by 99 percent.
