Interesting. I remember the pub, but I can't recall anyone ever using the name for an area of Elswick/Low Benwell. Mind, we used to call in a general way all the area from about the Rokeby Arms along to the cattle market Scotswood.

I was at that match, in the Leazes End, just to the right of the goal, where the grief kicked off. It was a different type of exhilaration at the end, though. I also went to the two, rather less exciting replays at Goodison.

I had thought that there was some ruling (following a typical media kerfuffle) when QEII was around that Camilla wouldn't be called Queen. Charles must have overruled that. In any event, I share the sentiment, although it's because I'm anti the whole institution

In the last 2 weeks MAGA aligned people have done 2 attempted mass shootings of a gay bar and pride center in Arizona and Texas, murdered 2 teenage girls for mocking Charlie Kirk, and torched a judge's home.

Meanwhile, the government mobilized the military to go after the left.

Following only official figures, more people died in this fire than in the Great Fire of London. The figures for London are unreliable, though. For me, the remarkable thing is how sparks from an explosion crossed a wide river and caused so much damage.

It is 89 years today since The Jarra Crusade began. About 200 men, mostly unemployed, set off to deliver a petition to Parliament demanding jobs and industry for their Tyneside town, Jarrow.
