Since day one, we knew the so-called emergency was only about projecting power and harming our residents.

But @washingtonpost.com's analysis showing 80% of immigrants arrested had no criminal records only underscores Trump's sole focus on racially profiling and targeting immigrant communities.
More than 80 percent of the immigrants arrested in D.C. during the surge in federal law enforcement had no prior criminal record, federal data shows, even though that crackdown was portrayed as targeting violent crime.
Most immigrants arrested in Trump’s D.C. crackdown had no criminal records
A Post analysis of federal data shows that the arrests of immigrants with no prior criminal record shot up sixfold during the Trump administration’s crackdown.

The two bills the House passed last night serve only to criminalize poverty and erode trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

The Senate must vote these bills down and reject this blatant attack on DC’s local autonomy.

Congress has no right to drag us backward.

If you see this, QRP a GIF of your first anime.

Mine was Ninja Scroll and I was definitely waaaaay too innocent and sheltered when I first saw it. But I loved it, and it definitely opened up a whole new world.

If I controlled an animation studio- any animation studio- I would jump both feet forth. Alas- for good or bd- I do not.
Genndy Tartakovsky shared test footage from his film ‘The Black Knight’. It follows a knight who controls a 20ft suit of armor. Sony isn't sure there's an audience for the film and haven’t greenlit it yet.

After Kpop demon hunters success I don't understand why Sony are dragging their feet on this!

Trump's militarization of DC is not about safety.

It's about suppressing Black leadership, stopping Black progress & criminalizing Black & brown youth.

If Republicans actually cared about safety, they'd invest in prevention, mental health, & community-based supports that keep people safe. #FreeDC

This is a moral moment for DC. Washingtonians are being taken off the streets and charged with crimes that even grand juries won’t indict. Residents are scared to leave their homes, and workers are scared to go to their jobs. All while they drag our city through the mud. This is wrong. Call it out.

It is not deportation when you suspend habeus corpus and forcibly transport a human in custody to a nation where they have no connection, citizenship or affiliation.

It is human trafficking.

That's a typical week for MPD — without the political circus and attacks on DC's autonomy.

If Trump had any real interest in fixing violence, he wouldn't be touting those numbers while pushing to let more out-of-state firearms onto DC public transit.

Many of those participating in the D.C. Public Library’s Discover Summer program are grown-ups who want a challenge, an escape or that old summer break vibe.

gAI art is bad because it's stealing labor.

stealing labor from art is easy because no one sees art as labor, they see it as talent.

they see it as talent because it's easier to believe they have a right to hate you because they can't stand they gave up and you didn't.

fuck them, pay labor.

Authoritarianism, power, and control - what this has all been about - made plain.
AG Pam Bondi has ordered @mayorbowser.bsky.social to replace MPD chief with an "emergency police commissioner." She's also rescinding or suspending policies that prohibit officers from helping w/ immigration enforcement.

This is a nightmare scenario for Mayor Bowser and greater DC autonomy.
