I think this should be the moderate position. These people want to be Americans. They want to work for it, even pay for it (indeed, they *are* paying for it with their taxes). Make them Americans now to end the crisis.
I argued that communities targeted by ICE should be granted citizenship immediately. This is both a matter of justice and an imperative if we're going to crush fascism.

Fascism thrives where there are groups that lack full rights. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/for-immigr...

An answer of sorts to Streets of Philadelphia: "will we leave each other alone like this on the streets of Philadelphia?"

We will not.

"We’ll take our stand for this land
And the stranger in our midst
We’ll remember the names of those who died
On the streets of Minneapolis"
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

By the dawn’s early light
Citizens stood for justice
Their voices ringing through the night
And there were bloody footprints
Where mercy should have stood
And two dead left to die on snow-filled streets

abolish and prosecute ICE

One thing I believe, as a white person, is far too many white people forget the debt that activism in the US owes generally to the Civil Rights movement, and how much the instruments of power that Stephen Miller is trying to extend across the country are those of Jim Crow.
These words demand attention.

“In a real sense this is holy ground, consecrated by blood spilled here. The cost is high, and so I had to be here to stand in the very place where this tragedy unfurled… I think we’re at a defining moment for our country…” ~ Rev Warnock
