A 2020 study found that Amazon—which shares owner Jeff Bezos with The Washington Post—is one of the largest employers of people on SNAP.
As SNAP funds froze, mayors and governors have pledged to supplement the missing federal assistance, while federal judges ruled Friday that the Trump administration should use contingency funds to keep food aid running despite the government shutdown.
Uncertainty hits after vulnerable Americans woke up to a SNAP freeze
Amid a benefits pause, nonprofit groups plan to work extra hours to get food out to vulnerable residents, and local community members are also stepping up.

I had this piece in the pipeline at Teen Vogue when the news dropped; I'm publishing it to my Substack because I think it's important and I don't want an interview with Adam Hochschild to go to waste.

The federal government wants to crack down on left organizing. A century ago, it largely succeeded.

Ok it would actually be hilarious if The Onion made a spin off “Teen The Onion” and hired a bunch of the political journalists who just got laid off from Teen Vogue.
Unlike other places, The Onion is quadrupling down on being a pain in the ass, politically.

The president of the United States thinks asylum-seekers come from mental asylums.
He says it in almost every interview where the topic of migration comes up.
How is this not 25th Amendment territory? How is he not an embarrassment to this entire country?

This is actually hilarious. It is all "The Supreme Court in its lunacy said we have to base 2nd Amendment jurisprudence on historical digging but with modern weapons. Well, if you committed this in 1790, you'd have been executed so hey, no rights to restore."
8th Cir. holds that it does not violate the Second Amendment for state to offer no mechanism for restoration of rights of a forcible felon because the colonial-era penalty for these crimes was death.
