Just trying to stay in touch with the people I know IRL. I'm going to check here every once in a while, until the world settles down. He/They/Whatever makes you comfortable. Would like to rejoin the EU in some form.

Week by week - Laura Kuenssberg is interviewing the party leaders.

When I agreed to come on the show, I was told Nigel Farage was also doing it.

He's now pulled out - and they've sent the deputy instead.

The same Nigel Farage who's refusing to debate me.

A pattern emerging...

Robert Jenrick's Daily Mail style catastrophisation of this country sounds just like Trump's verbal attacks on his own country. I would hate to see this country (UK) go any further down the road the US is travelling. It looks to me like Reform intend to take us there. Why would they be popular?
January 16, 2026 at 9:36 AM
Jenrick is like a walking copy of the Daily Fail. It's extremely boring. If fixing the problems starts with electing a party that wants to replace the NHS with US medical insurance companies & create its own version of ICE then whatever kind of trouble we are in now would be much worse under Reform

So Nadhim Zahawi's answer to Britain's dark & dangerous situation (he claims) is to go to a darker place (NHS privatisation, ICE-like squads, links to US right-wing)? The Greens are offering a more inclusive & optimistic vision which I hope will have greater appeal.

Bereft of ideas, all the right has is a limitless whinge. I like the optimism & dynamism of the Greens. It's no good having just one party in power for several parliaments & particularly not the maliciously incompetent one who for 14 years pared everything to the bone.

My wife sponsored a guide dog for two years as a Christmas present to me. I was really really touched. But look at this guide human! I'm not sure he needs sponsoring but he gets a pat on the back and a well done. Emily is going to make him very happy.
Emily is blind but immediately recognizes the visitor to the shelter who returned to adopt her: #AGoodPlace

One upon a time I went to see Suzzanne Vega perform in London. I didn't know who the support was & I could easily have missed Michael Hedges but thank the FSM I didn't. He was mind blowing. There are so many wonderful people keeping his memory alive.

Labour's plot to axe many jury trials is lazy, abusive & hypocritical.

Here are the REAL causes of the court backlog.

My reporter's-eye view, featuring tweets from @barristersecret.bsky.social, @joannahs.bsky.social and, of course, David Lammy.

Reading that AI companies are buying up silver for their environmental disaster machines which is also, on top of tariffs, driving sterling up toward $100 /an ounce/.

This is obscene.
And disheartening as a jewelry person.
