Hey Ottawa folks: I gave some kids' books to Twice Upon a Time and they said they've receved fewer donations than usual for this time of year. So if you have any kids' books in good condition, or time or money to spare, here's the info:

Just got home from Wicked For Good & had a lovely time, but I’ve gotta say the highlight was the row of people behind us who audibly swooned & giggled every time Jonathan Bailey appeared on screen (I get it, group of friends!! That guy knows how to smoulder as a romantic lead!)

…and for pottery, partner got me a wheel class at a local studio, I touched clay, fell in love, took a creature-handbuilding class with another local artist, went OOPS OBSESSED NOW, hobby gradually became part of my job!

Did a whole bachelors in English thinking I’d be an editor or journalist, ended up working at non-profits in comms for 4yrs, dabbled in designing some event flyers (while doing more art in my spare time), went OOPS time for more school (another bachelors) in design/illustration this time 🤷‍♀️

The two toads I finished today (ok, one of them is inspired by pacman frogs, but!), feat. the latest episode of @ifbookspod.bsky.social in the background (this might have been one of my fav episodes yet, which is saying a LOT)!

The author is a GREAT example of someone who should have taken (and learned from) anthropology classes rather than reading Jared Diamond. Happily, @michaelhobbes.bsky.social and @notalawyer.bsky.social learn from anthropologists and historians and then rip this bullshit to shreds.
Episode 46: Sapiens

It's an ambitious goal to write the entire history of humanity in just 400 pages. It's even more ambitious to do it without reading any research.

Made a whole flock of Funky Ravens today!! Tomorrow I get to break into a new box of black clay & am soooo ready for the smoothness (it’s a really dense & smooth clay & I love to work with it)!

I saw this when I was about 8-9 and it’s forever after been lodged in my brain as one of my formative pieces of media. What a beautiful movie.
The Secret of Roan Inish (1994). Why did John Sayles not direct all the movies? He’s one of the great humanitarian directors who can move you without resort to sentimentality. This Irish fable is such a beautiful piece of work with Haskel Wexler plainly enjoying the light and colour of Ireland.

Also to note, the current inventory marked as ‘coming soon’ on the shop isn’t up to date! I’ll try to fix it up soon!
The market is done & now I need to get the remaining guys (& a few vessels) into the shop…I’m hoping to have a bunch of this up (on heywitch.bigcartel.com) within the next two weeks…stay tuned for more info soon!

Let’s goooooooo! 613flea, 10-4, Aberdeen Pavilion (Ottawa, ON)!! Pls enjoy my setup that’s mostly scrounged from around the house (vintage crates usually hold towels, mug shelf is my bedside table 😂).

And I’ve gotta post the Worrybirds too — the clear glaze went on a little funny, but I still love how they turned out!!
November 15, 2025 at 1:35 AM
These rainbow swans on magic ponds trinket plates might be even more exciting than the mugs?!?! I absolutely love getting to play with my crystal glazes, especially when they turn out looking like fantastical bodies of water!!

I unloaded the kiln this morning & am SO THRILLED with what emerged!! Very happy I got this stuff done in time for the 613flea market tomorrow (Nov 15, 10-4, Aberdeen Pavilion, Ottawa!)
November 15, 2025 at 1:28 AM
I remembered I have a newsletter! This is just a speedyquick yawp about the market, BUT if you're not in Ottawa& are waiting for an online update, sign up to get that news right in your inbox (spoiler: it'll hopefully happen by the end of Nov)!

I don’t know if I have many Ottawa-based people here, but just in case, I’ll officially announce that I’m tabling at 613flea this Saturday (Nov 15, 10-4) at Aberdeen Pavilion!! I’ll have all kinds of critters & mugs & etc, with some sneak peeks of new stuff coming tomorrow once the kiln is cool!

Another gently unhinged reel from my market promo, with the captions from my narration, but not the sound because apparently all audio is removed when one downloads a reel 🥲 ANYWAYS, I got all the glazing done so I can fire the stuff tomorrow?!?! I don’t know how I did it, but it happened!!!

How to turn fallen leaves into valuable leaf mold for your garden this fall
The annual carpet of dead leaves can be an important component in gardens. They can serve as root-protecting and insect-sheltering winter mulch or add to a robust compost mix.

I’m doing my first Ottawa market this weekend (613flea on Nov 15, 10-4 @ Aberdeen Pavilion for anyone who also lives here ) & have to promote this thing on insta…which lead to a gently unhinged video about the first chunk of mug-underglazing, brought to you by the LOTR extended editions. Enjoy!

I got into my first local market for next weekend (613Flea at Aberdeen Pavilion for any Ottawa folk) & am trying my darndest to get a quick batch done. Pease wish me luck as I enter THE GLAZING FRENZY (everything has to go back in the kiln by Thursday!! Eek!!!).

This is the (possibly too adorable?!? Look at her TINY FACE) guest-pup, who I had to go get from the bedroom around 8am for her morning walk because she is the most chill animal?!
