I wish I could find @turdguy.bsky.social’s Keith Hernandez reply back on Deadspin (“…so there I was, on the floor, eyeball to eyeball with her … here we go, top of the 7th…”). That’s the hardest I’ve laughed and the most amazed I’ve ever been at a social media post.

Just because I like to note this whenever I can: I swam in Possum Kingdom Lake in Texas.

I'm pretty sure the guy that did the tackling is a state rep. They don't play around in the North.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Now that it appears that they're pulling out of Minneapolis, this is all the excuse the Senate will need to fund DHS, even though the problem still exists and will likely raise its head again 48 hours after the vote.

And now the DHS funding measure will pass.

Exactly. This is why I have my own Rotten Tomatoes math (which is a random formula that means nothing but I apply it when I want to), which is basically if the critics love it but it gets a horrible audience score (or vice versa) I'm going to be very skeptical.

In this Ohio diner, most people were talking about whether the Iranian protesters were being kinda mouthy.

Given this week’s events and my now current understanding of the law, I’m pretty sure you can shoot them.

If you read the back of that post, he’s also calling for 80% of people not to be able to get a credit card.

Who was Josh Hawley running from?

I have a follow-up question, you haughty dipshit: How many people who have been indicted by a US court live outside the US and when can we look forward to you sending the military to arrest them?

For all/most of my life, those half-asleep middle managers have been delegating their own authority to the executive to reduce the number of hard decisions for which they had to be accountable. They’ve done an excellent job representing their careers and a shitty job with everything else.

That’s one final step from the fridge telling me that I don’t need another glass of chocolate milk.

There is a 99.5% chance that Stephen Miller raised his hand and spoke up on the first day of law school, and that's all you need to know about him.
yep, well said, and as I try to argue here, Stephen Miller's hubris at the outset was very evident; he and his allies fully expected that the "shock and awe" (Homan's actual smirking formulation) would push the mass public into acquiescence
the MAGA project is stalling out in no small part because they've been unable to sell america on their ideas in practice. the images of masked thugs grabbing innocent people off the street has galvanized spontaneous resistance, not mass support

These (along with Take On Me) would have been on my list until I saw Nobody Speak during the pandemic, and now I firmly believe that not only is it the best music video, but also one of the best examples of cinema in my (or anyone else’s) lifetime. I cannot be talked out of this.

My go-to was always Take On Me (A-Ha) until I saw Nobody Speak (DJ Shadow). After that, second place isn’t particularly close.

Right? There would be no quicker way to get me to pull my kids out of a daycare place than if they let randos wander the halls and tape stuff.

Right?!?

She’s assuming, for some reason, that the Kennedy Center is the only place in the world where one can consume “the arts”. It’s like saying that because people think Burger King sucks and don’t go there, restaurant service workers around the world will starve.

Sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office developing an even deeper hatred for people who listen to shit on their phones without headphones. Thinking mandatory shock collars for waiting room occupants is the solution.

I’ve convinced myself that I held up just find. I probably just drooled a little bit. It was the back of the old Billiken Bench Club.
