yep, well said, and as I try to argue here, Stephen Miller's hubris at the outset was very evident; he and his allies fully expected that the "shock and awe" (Homan's actual smirking formulation) would push the mass public into acquiescence
the MAGA project is stalling out in no small part because they've been unable to sell america on their ideas in practice. the images of masked thugs grabbing innocent people off the street has galvanized spontaneous resistance, not mass support

Sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office developing an even deeper hatred for people who listen to shit on their phones without headphones. Thinking mandatory shock collars for waiting room occupants is the solution.

In 1996, I was grabbing a smoke behind a bar near St. Louis University at about 11pm one night and the back door opened and Brett Hull and Wayne Gretzky stepped out and burned one with me. Since they (sort of) approached me and not the other way around, they were very nice and chatty.

The TikToks are trying to sell me on the 12-3-30 treadmill method. I have to lay off tennis for then next month or so, but would rather not gain weight at an alarming rate. Is this a decent exercise if you can’t do anything too strenuous (tennis or lifting)?
+1 to this. i have taken to trying to do a 30 minute jog on the treadmill most days and it has done wonders for my health and general state of mind.
not gonna evangelize about it but tbh coming to understand the value of cardio is one of the biggest positive changes I've made of any kind to my adult life, for whatever that's worth

Well sure, but people are only SNAP-EBT customers if they’re using SNAP-EBT funds — it even says so in the USDA notice “offering discounts… to SNAP paying customers.” Pretty sure there isn’t a violation here.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

One of my favorite Saturday morning activities used to be sitting on the couch and letting the NHL condensed games autoplay on TV. I don’t even mind that they added ads this year. But how they managed to screw up the auto-play feature (it doesn’t work or crashes) is beyond me.

Apparently, on Roku and other streamers, you can pinpoint ads down to the last 4 digits of a zip code (the ones nobody uses) - Rs did this in 2024. We need to raise money to get Murphy, Mayor Pete, and other effective people on those ads. @mcuban.bsky.social
