Old ONE, not old alone.
Fuck you Autocorrect.

As I was in the area this afternoon, I decided to have a look at the Olympic Stadium and surrounding park.
(Not the old alone I toured last week. The newer one, used in the 2004 Games.)

The (alleged) prison of Socrates.
Legend has it this was where the philosopher was imprisoned, but nobody can prove it. It was definitely used to hide antiquities from the Acropolis and Archaeological Museum during WWII, though.

Also, more fun with mangled English. The "Hill of the Mouses".

...and another shot of the Acropolis, just because the lighting and positioning were even better. Just ignore the last one. (2/2)

Turns out I wandered the wrong side of the hill this morning. The other side is where the *stuff* is.

Including an ancient gate, a medieval church... (1/2)

Have I mentioned how many cats there are in Greece?
Tons of 'em, wandering all over the place. I don’t know if they're all strays, or people own them, or a mix of both.

A few shots on and around Philopappou Hill.
Including yet another snap of the Parthenon and Acropolis, since the lighting was right.

My last day in Greece, and I haven't decided what to do with it yet.
Seek out the site of Socrates' prison? Another museum? Just wander around central Athens?

Recommendations?

Fun fact: they took their name from Il Dorothy's dog.

Il Toto.
Best known for their 1982 hits "Il Rosanna" and "Il Africa".

(too soon?)

It really sucks that snob gatekeepers framed classical as high brow music so now any time you talk about it, people assume you're trying to signal intellect

But the music itself isn't pretentious, thats cultural baggage. I just like it when sounds are arranged in a cool way, like any other genre

The little church atop Mount Lycabettus, and more.

Never mind the Acropolis... if you really want the perfect panoramic view of Athens, you can't do better than Mount Lycabettus.

It's a pain in the ass to get to, though: the nearest Metro station is a twenty-minute walk away, involving many stairs. But worth it for the view. (1/2)

For a second, I misread this as Greek Jews.
It's where you go to buy fancy Greek necklces and diamnd ringes.

Explicit Poets!

Doesn't appear to have anything to do with poetry, though.
Just a place to buy wildly overpriced sunglasses.

Also, my new novel Performance Reviews should be available next month. That is exciting too.
