Side note is there a less awkward/cumbersome way to replace“man-hours”? I know “labor units” is definitely not the right answer even if I used to live on econ blogs.

Way beyond the number of bodies showing up, the difference in hours of labor is orders of magnitude, people like to conceive of the Civil Rights Movement as a few of marches over the course of like 5 years, if I’m being generous. That shit took decades of sweat and blood, and it’s still not done.

It seems like a bunch of people can only conceptualize of the Civil Rights Struggle as something which, having worked, was fated to have done so; there’s no attempt to think about what it was like as an ongoing concern. No Kings, not being already in the past, can only have failed.

I think serving as an officer for a while or senior NCO could definitely represent a sufficient level of government experience. I don’t know much about Palmer, tbh.

We can go back and forth about the importance of a degree, but wanting a candidate to have prior experience in lower level politics is extremely reasonable.

No, if anything I’m too judgmental because I’m in the area and hold local politicians to an impossible level. NY Democrats are frequently incredibly disappointing.

People love to shit on the late 90s Yankees but what they did was incredible. Was it like rooting for US Steel, maybe a little but I grew up a Yankee fan and there was a time when US Steel helped us win a war.

Fascism is usually about subverting one's
own issues into the crowd, convivial worship if you will.

Depressive paranoia is based on the idea you are entirely alone, and moreover unkind to the rest of humanity.

I don't even think those are narrow differences, but I recognize how someone unconsidered could cling to either depending on the public moment
