Wish I’d known I had ADD back then. Part of the problem but doing my best to limit the damage and help when I can. Can tell a hawk from a handsaw in most (many?) environmental conditions. he/him/his

Until the revolution. And when the revolution comes, all I can say is that I except I’ll be in the vicinity of a wall
Side note is there a less awkward/cumbersome way to replace“man-hours”? I know “labor units” is definitely not the right answer even if I used to live on econ blogs.

I would have thought that the folks doing the real shit might appreciate the cover. I’m not Spartacus! But I do know the right answer to that question.
Way beyond the number of bodies showing up, the difference in hours of labor is orders of magnitude, people like to conceive of the Civil Rights Movement as a few of marches over the course of like 5 years, if I’m being generous. That shit took decades of sweat and blood, and it’s still not done.

It seems like a bunch of people can only conceptualize of the Civil Rights Struggle as something which, having worked, was fated to have done so; there’s no attempt to think about what it was like as an ongoing concern. No Kings, not being already in the past, can only have failed.
you know this attitude is a truly a perfect illustration of how the modern left can't duplicate the Civil Rights Struggle, only cargo cult it
Dear lord, there were multiple episodes with them lost on glaciers or the sides of mountains weren’t there?
That may be fair, and I’m just stuck on my initial disappointment. I will have to look at her recent record more closely.
I think serving as an officer for a while or senior NCO could definitely represent a sufficient level of government experience. I don’t know much about Palmer, tbh.
We can go back and forth about the importance of a degree, but wanting a candidate to have prior experience in lower level politics is extremely reasonable.
No, if anything I’m too judgmental because I’m in the area and hold local politicians to an impossible level. NY Democrats are frequently incredibly disappointing.

Fascism is such a fundamental attack on wonder and the human imagination and I think everyone should have the opportunity to let their imagination wonder as it wanders — doesn’t matter what you do for a living. Your mind matters! Your relationship with the universe is meaningful!
I absolutely saw this on an episode of Archer
This is probably the first time I’ve been even remotely impressed by Hochul!

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.
You might want to fix the capitalization
And as a side note, some of the most interesting legal decisions of the post-war era involved US Steel, if not necessarily in a good way.
People love to shit on the late 90s Yankees but what they did was incredible. Was it like rooting for US Steel, maybe a little but I grew up a Yankee fan and there was a time when US Steel helped us win a war.
Your fine, I wasn’t following you for your baseball opinions anyway ;->
Well derp, my sincere apologies. TY.
Are there any “ok” rock operas? Like there are a half-dozen amazing ones, and everything else is actively offensive to both music and narrative?
This is what happens when I wake up and decide to listen to The Wall
Skype from me to a friend

For me that's a hard no, although I appreciate I come at this from a fairly complicated and specific viewpoint
Fascism is usually about subverting one's
own issues into the crowd, convivial worship if you will.

Depressive paranoia is based on the idea you are entirely alone, and moreover unkind to the rest of humanity.

I don't even think those are narrow differences, but I recognize how someone unconsidered could cling to either depending on the public moment
We need a word to differentiate between domesticated animals who’ve returned to the wild and animals in nature
While it’s totally plausible I’m projecting, I’m standing by that read
So for whatever reasons I decided to listen to The Wall this morning, and I realized it’s not about fascism, it’s about paranoid social isolation coming from depression or some similar mental health issues

This would be stunning news to anyone who lived through or has studied the Great Depression.
He said this in January lol
A world in which human wages crash from AI -- logically, necessarily -- is a world in which productivity growth goes through the roof, and prices for goods and services crash to near zero. Consumer cornucopia. Everything you need and want for pennies.
