"What if we took a website that was 75% trans people making art and attacked them directly?"

Just got back from watching "One Battle After Another" to find a feed full of videos of ICE raids in the US and Badenoch promising to introduce it here. Whatever horror you put on film can't beat reality.

Here's why I think the far-right's Outrage Cycle over LGBT+ rep will fail:

They're obsessing over shows that were already cancelled or ended that didn't get much backlash when they released.

This won't appeal to normies.

They'll move on to the next Outrage Cycle in about a week.

Negativity is important, but I feel the internet has created a sort of world where Negativity is ALL that matters... I'd like to fight against that.

And there it is. The entire attack on Netflix is just a grift for far right influencers to promote a religious streaming site.

It literally costs nothing to be a good person in life. It's not that hard and honestly, I don't think anyone should want to be mean and nasty all the time. What's the fun in that?

If you seriously can't watch an animated show just because it has queer and transgender characters, then you're beyond help.

This is proof that conservative parents don't spend actual time with their kids (well, we know Graham doesn't). If they did, they'd know that there have been queer characters on Netflix (and Disney, Nickelodeon etc.) for decades. Like, they're only just discovering Dead End Paranormal Park.

there are a lot of affluent (and not so affluent) liberals in this country who are very angry and don’t know how to properly direct that anger and Disney gave them a very easy target

something for the next big corp that wants to bend the knee to consider

SCOOP / UPDATE — Disney saw more than 1.7 million total paid streaming cancelations during the period 9/17-9/23, a Disney source confirms to me. The total includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN.

NEW — I wrote about my confirmed scoop from last night that Disney hastened Kimmel's return because of a planned Disney+ streaming price increase announcement coming on Tuesday:

imagine if trans people didn't need to beg for their fucking lives constantly and instead we could just be funny and hot and go to sleep at night without worrying about what threat morning will bring

A) Dead End Paranormal Park is an amazing show.
B) it's been out for years and nothing bad has happened.

It is so deeply disappointing that the leadership team of Bluesky has continuously chosen to try and brush the Singal mess under the rug for months now. A man who has been identified as a bad actor and threat to trans lives in America by GLAAD and other leading trans organizations. And now this.

the CEO of this site is trolling us because we asked for a transphobe -- someone who has done real harm to us -- to be removed from her platform.

this sends a message to bad actors: not only will bluesky shield you, leadership will laugh about it.

@jay.bsky.team needs to go. this is unsafe shit.

Guess platforming Dave Chappelle stretching the attack helicopter joke for three specials didn't save Netflix

If you have two minutes free right now, call Netflix and leave a comment in support of this programming and ask them to stand up for their shows against political pressure.

Phone number is 1-866-952-4456, and I waited less than a minute before a human picked up.

1. Led by Elon Musk, the far-right has exploded in a campaign to get Netflix to remove shows with queer and trans characters.

If Netflix capitulates to their demands, an already strained market for LGBTQ+ animators might become even more dire.

Elon Musk Leads Campaign To Force Netflix To Remove Shows With Trans Characters
Musk's posts have been seen by tens of millions of users, and many conservatives are now attempting to force Netflix into a removal of LGBTQ+ content.

I hope there are advertising execs who are looking at the run-up marketing campaigns that glitch runs for its shows/episodes and how extremely successful they are when they believe in their own product, instead of just cynically dumping it and moving on

Heard through the grapevine about more stuff from someone who apparently saw a test screening of the original version.

It wouldn't have been one of Pixar's worst, of course. I'd say it probably would've been on par with Brave, but just slightly better. So like, a low 6/10.

Okay, I'll be real, the more I hear about the original version of Elio, the more thankful I am for the version we got, because V1 sounded like an overstuffed, tonally confused mess with a really bad third act.
