UPDATE: Dems lead every city council race in Aurora, Colorado - and could flip a 7-3 GOP majority into a 6-4 Dem edge - including what would be a shocking upset of MAGA media star Danielle Jurinsky, whose claims of a "complete gang takeover" led Trump to call Aurora "conquered." #copolitics

Several items on Declaration of Independence list of grievances against George III also apply to Trump today, most notably on immigration, trade, and deportation without due process. Like King George, he is "unfit to be the ruler of a free people": reason.com/volokh/2025/...

I read this every Fourth of July because it’s important to remember that our country has always failed to live up to its founding principles. But, at the same time, those principles are good and worth fighting for. The ending seems especially meaningful this year:

I did not edit this, this is the actual parade with the actual music being played.

and in Austin

and it worked for downtown Oakland and for Sacramento

and yes, it’s worked for decades in Tokyo

but how can we be *sure* that building a lot more homes will make California a more affordable place to live??
Denver is building so many new apartments that vacancy rates reached a 16-year high and the average rent has fallen below levels seen two years ago, according to the Apartment Association of Metro Denver.

The average apartment rent in metro Denver fell to $1,819 in the first quarter.

I am often asked by young lawyers for career advice, and the one thing I always tell them is that no case, client, or job is worth harming your reputation. It sounds trite, but it really does take a lifetime to build up your reputation, and only seconds to lose (or severely damage) it.
