Wake up. Make breakfast. Do email. Watch a murder. Go to a party for a 5 year old. Laugh with my daughter. See a different angle of that murder. Hear govt officials slander the victim. Play Barbies with my kid. Feed her dinner. Tear up at that victim reading last honors to a vet. Put kid to bed. USA

I hope Democratic senators and congressmen understand, out of pure lizard-brain self-interest if moral decency happens to be unavailable, what is at stake for them if they don't handle this the right way. This is a true "If not now, when?" moment.

Whenever I see the word "Pegula" I envision a low budget porn flick involving vampires and butt stuff.

the next few election cycles will be so brutal for establishment democrats that if you can get on the primary ballot, there's a good chance you'll be headed to congress. even if you lose, you will force the folders to fight and move the party to the left
Angie Craig won't win her primary vs Flanagan (if she can) without moving substantially on such issues.
The Minnesota Democrats will vote against ICE funding. Even Angie Craig told me she's a "hell no." Maggie Goodlander, who voted for the Laken Riley Act, from #NH01 told me "I'm taking a really hard look at it right now."

The push toward the corporate center that started with Clinton attracts people who don't actually believe in anything but comfort and the status quo. That's who most modern elected Democrats are, passive warriors for the status quo. The exact wrong people for the moment.

Mamdani: "I am in support of abolishing ICE. What we see is an entity that has no interest in fulfilling its stated reason to exist. We're seeing a government agency that is supposed to be enforcing some kind of immigration law, but instead what it's doing is terrorizing people."

one of the best things about this whole nightmare has been watching a whole bunch of folks who have clearly never been seriously political in their lives standing up and going, no, absolutely the fuck not, we’re not letting this happen
ICE and MAGA really did bet the farm on all of Minneapolis’s white people going “oh yes, please take away our disgusting, evil non-white-foreigner neighbors, oh thank you so much.”

it’s beautiful that they’ve been proven incredibly wrong about that - may the rest of the country do the same.
