Just got a "client satisfaction" survey request from #COP30 and, hoo-boy.

Let's see: transportation nightmare, sweltering venue, leaking roof, toilets out of service, very little food--oh, and the place caught fire.

Flames destroying the protective layer at #COP30 climate talks? A screenwriter would be deemed a hack for such a scene. But as emissions rise even as we near the end of yet another extraordinarily hot year, the truth of our #climate crisis is stranger than fiction.

The Roof Is on Fire: Will COP30 Finally Start Phasing Out Fossil Fuels?
The symbolism was undeniable when fire erupted at the COP30 climate talks just as negotiators considered phasing out fossil fuels.

Greetings from Belem where things are not quite ready for showtime.
Hours from opening the main exhibition hall is a frenzied construction zone.
OTOH, there is Amazon Beer.

Consumer protection and Constitutional protection are not opposite ends of the political spectrum. Why is this so hard for DC pols to figure out?
The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

A reminder that there's more to Cheney's legacy than just unjustified war and torture chambers.
Dick Cheney got George W. Bush to break his promise to regulate carbon emissions, and began turning climate into a strictly partisan issue. He was always loyal to fossil fuels and that’s a huge part of his legacy.
