I'm not anti-AI, per se. I'm against billionaires having a race to control AI which they hope to use as a replacement for human thinking and labor. And I'm against them burning the planet to the ground to do it. So, yeah, I guess I'm pretty much anti-AI.

Klein has an absolutely *wild* misunderstanding of baseline public opinion on trans issues. Rs can weaponize people's prejudices, for sure, but it is not remotely a generally salient issue and there's reams of data to support this. Bad group chat/bad info environment problem.

Just fantastical bullshit from Klein. The Democratic party went from Obama bragging about deporting the most immigrants ever to Biden building vast sections of Trump's wall, to Dems spending most of 2024 bragging about the super-harsh immigration bill they tried to pass that Trump tanked.

Ezra Klein explains why he is against the “oppositional” approach of Dems. One example he gives is blatantly false: immigration.

But more important: Klein shows how folks like him almost always casually throw vulnerable people under the bus in the name of “practicality.”
What happens is Trump then wins, which is taken as truly shocking, and the Democratic Party begins to take on the opposite positions of Trump in many ways. Trump is the most anti-immigrant President of our lifetime— not just in his desire to build a wall but emotionally anti-immigrant. The Democratic Party becomes much more pro-immigrant. If you're going to build a wall, we're going to debate legalizing, decriminalizing, illegal border crossing.
