Since 1990, Romania has “decoupled” its economic growth from fossil fuel emissions faster than any other European country. Each dollar of economic activity in the country is now 10x less carbon intensive than 35 years ago, and in the same period Romania has slashed emissions by 75%. By Ajit Niranjan
‘The trend is irreversible’: has Romania shattered the link between economic growth and high emissions?
Emissions have plunged 75% since communist times in the birthplace of big oil – but for some the transition has been brutal

Further confirmation that Canada's far off track from its 2030 target. As I mention here, the models tend to overestimate the impact of climate policies, because they represent an idealized world in which policies are fully implemented and work as intended.

A reasonable discussion about AI would come to the conclusion that this tech is damaging to humanity in virtually every way a tech can be damaging.

But I'd rather have an emotional discussion and point out that this tech is shit made by assholes, and it stole from me, personally, so fuck it.

Say no to AI!

There is a revolution in #renewable #energy happening in California, putting the lie to the MAGA futile effort to prop up fossil fuels. All they're doing is delaying the inevitable, enriching their friends, and worsening #climate change.
It's the dead of winter, and California just supplied a peak of 117% of its demand with solar alone and 136% of its demand from WindWaterSolar and over 100% of demand for 6 hours.

Climate change is the story of our time
The world is poised to overshoot the goal of limiting average global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, as for the first time, a three-year period, ending in 2025, has breached the threshold.

Climate scientists are predicting devastating consequences.
