Update: Last weekend, my therapist identified my mom's behaviour as abusive—and I was minimizing her politics when I described her behaviour; I alluded to politics, but I wasn't ready to share it all yet. My therapist didn't identify this BECAUSE OF politics. It's just a fascinating coincidence. 1/
If you asked someone on the right, and if you asked her, they'd probably say I'm a terrible daughter for what I said to her about it. Even though it's been years of me listening to the hatred and turning the other cheek. Oh well. Screw what they think. I'm done with carrying that emotional labor.
