I loved this XKCD map and wanted to see a version for Canada and well, here we are
A map of Canada with the most observed animal and plant in each province/territory entered into iNaturalist (copying a map made by XKCD for the USA)

Seagrasses are great but this is false. Most carbon in the ocean is dissolved inorganic carbon and seagrass carbon is a tiny fraction of that. The mixing of stock and flux is also unhelpful. The only way to stop climate change is not burning fossil fuels.

reasonstobecheerful.world/seagrass-res...
Despite covering just Q.2 percent of the sea floor, seagrasses account for an estimated 10 percent of all the carbon stored by the world's oceans. They are also able to capture carbon from the atmosphere up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests such as the Amazon.

A Redditor made a graph of the percent of population of US and Canada metro areas over 1 million that live in a given density. When they ordered them by average density the lowest ranked Canadian metro area, Edmonton, was ranked 14th between Miami and Washington. 6 of the top 15 were Canadian metros

Agree but these aren't even route numbers they are just locations. I was at location #8 and could turn left to get to location #22 or straight to location #9. To figure out what these locations are you need a map which defeats the whole point in my opinion.

It’s so weird to come to social media to be like “how bout those Jays!” but simultaneously wade through the ongoing documentation of fascism in the country next door 🙃

Yeah these numbers just correspond to locations, not even routes. At that point they are just worse and more confusing address numbers but with no street name.
jeremy77.bsky.social
These aren't even route numbers (which would make sense) they are locations which you have to look up on the map to decipher them.

I think they are also trying to keep motorized vehicles off the trail which I think is a legit concern

I appreciate @victoria.ca trying to up their bicycle wayfinding game. But I find this really confusing. The numbers need to be cross referenced to a map in an app which kind of defeats the purpose of IRL wayfinding. For the record #9 is Beacon Hill park and #22 is Dallas Road. #yyj 🚲🗺️

At least they can be opened. When I was there last at least a few were open.

This is great! Every student that lives on campus takes pressure off of Victoria's rental market, and reduces commuting. The University has the land—they just need the money to build. Funding this UVic residence was a win-win decision, and one the province should keep repeating.

Hey Dave I couldn't make it out today but I want to put in a pitch for the addition of lighting for the basketball court at central park. The lights on the new pickleball courts at Topaz are great, I think the basketball players deserve the same. Perhaps it could be part of the new pool project? 🏀
