There is a reason I don't draw for anyone but myself anymore. Page rates haven't risen since I started 15 years ago, deadlines are shorter, publishers expect you to tirelessly promote (hello, that's your job), and years of grinding with a full time job to make up the difference wrecked me

For graphic novels, especially adult genre fiction, it's incredibly helpful to review it online, talk about it, recommend it to a friend—adult fiction in the graphic novel space is difficult to place, and nothing convinces readers that they'll like a book more than the personal testimonial.
If you like an author's work, the best thing you can do is buy it. The second best thing you can do is ask your local library to buy it. Or, do both!

the only good thing about genAI is that it got me to really love seeing bad art, because I know a person put in time and effort, made themselves vulnerable by showing it to others, and is trying to improve. I value that more than anything now

I had a very bad childhood, had anxiety & PTSD at a young age. Found freedom, entertainment, joy & healing in drawing and playing in my own little worlds. Luckily had a mom who recognized my passion and sent me to art college.
