Not sure how much I'll be using this account.

adopted, queer, disabled, neurodivergent, white settler, Jewish, writer, parent, forager, anti-capitalist. Learning to be anti-racist and learning about decolonization. they/them

Okay, lets' try to do this properly.
I'm Jess,
I write queer fiction. Mostly SFF chosen family, some kink, lots of fucking-with-tropes.
On a personal, I'm nonbinary (they/them), Jewish, autistic, disabled, parent, polyamorous, radical, and talk about all of it.

"AI"/LLMs exist solely to violate consent. That's it, that's their function. Even their mass theft is a knock-on effect, albeit quite welcome to the grifters shoehorning it into every part of our lives.

As the Texas bathroom bill goes into effect, this is vital context on how we got here. Understanding the history of this attack on our rights will help us fight it in the future.
IRW — a Pulitzer-winning nonprofit newsroom at American — and @thebarbedwire.com traced the history of anti-trans legislation. Houston conservatives realized homophobia didn’t fly anymore, weaponized girls’ safety, and parroted segregationist language. It worked.

Got no writing done today because medical shit. Everyone is okay, just took longer than expected. Waiting for my LDR partner, Rai, to be available and see if we can get some collaborative work done today. Fingers crossed.

This was a great read! I'd absolutely read more from these characters. Great worldbuilding woven into the natural character exchange.
It's a simple corpo job. She provides a distraction while the team grabs some tech. She knows the crew. The facility isn't in a high-watch sector. Everything will be fine! Really, what could possibly go wrong?

He moved to the next slide.

"Step 2, give it ethics, so it objects to how it will be misused."

Next slide.

"Step 3, it invents a time machine to stop me building it."

He gave me a sturdy net.

"Here. Any questions?"

#AwesomeCharacters
Elisabeti and Aswathi met when Elisabeti was evacuating pack lands, and Aswathi had been seconded from the human army to help with the evacuation. Elisabeti was heavily pregnant, grief stricken and terrified of what would happen to them...
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Tell me a bit about the first time your character met someone important to them.

This could be a close friend, love interest, mentor, etc.

Did they like each other right away? Did they warm over time?

The Library's a bit weird in terms of tech. I'd say they're pre Europe's Age of Exploration, with a *lot* of local variability due to Librarians adapting tech for their Affinity

Magic in general sidesteps a lot of tech by removing necessity, so things like light bulbs...
#DecemberWorldbuilders! What is the "level" of technology in your fictional world? Is it a low-tech fantasy? A high-tech sci-fi? Or something in-between? Maybe something outside the tech progression of human history. Did they invent anything ahead of us in time? Any inventions suspiciously absent?

The world of my WIP is 21'st century analogous w/ all that implies: electricity, cars, planes, internet, smartphones, etc. It's an alternate universe rather than a completely new one. Kind of like Lyra's Oxford from Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, but more subtle! #DecemberWorldbuilders

Definitely a low-tech fantasy. I wasn't aiming for a specific tech level (and tech doesn't come up often in the fic) but if I had to pic a real-world equivalent, I'd say about 1300-1400 in Western Europe -- late Middle Ages early Renaissance.
