Only 17 to 20 percent of the energy in gasoline is used to move a vehicle (the rest is wasted as heat), whereas 75 to 86 percent of the electricity delivered to an electric vehicle goes into motion. Just one reason renewable energy is more efficient. www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-pa...

Thank you for spreading the word that so-called "carbon capture" is NOT an effective or realistic way to offset the damages of burning fossil fuels. Rather, it is a scam to allow more drilling, pipeline build out, and use of fossil fuels www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-...

Here's a more technical yet still quite accessible overview of the climate.
Of particular note that even though we set a record for solar/wind last year, we also set the record for burning fossil fuels. Which we need to stop immediately, yet keep doing anyway. Which is Very Bad.

We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚

Carbon capture and storage was always a huge concern and a dangerous risk.

Our worst fears are realised. Chevron Toxico lives up to its earned name and reinforces its reputation as a major polluter and climate criminal.
New data from Chevron on its Gorgon carbon capture and storage project shows the lowest amount of carbon dioxide captured and stored since it started in 2019.

Excellent piece.
It’s so obvious that transitioning from fossil fuels to renewables is the solution & that vested interests do their damn desperate worst to delay & deflect from that indisputable FACT.
Incredibly disappointing that Gates takes the stance that he is, he could do so much better.

The new Gates climate memo isn't a pivot; it's a continuation of "a consistent pattern of downplaying clean energy while promoting dubious and potentially dangerous technofixes in which he is often personally invested," @michaelemann.bsky.social argues in @thebulletin.org:
You can’t reboot the planet if you crash it
What Gates is putting forward aren’t legitimate arguments that can be made in good faith. They are shopworn fossil fuel industry talking points.
