As my future career as a dentist, I will incorperate nutrition w/ my patients by expressing how important nutrition is for tooth health. Something like drinking 20 glasses of sugary lemonade every day, might not be a good idea for your health & your teeth! 🍋🦷🪥

I feel like there should be more attention brought to school lunches for kids. Home lunches are great and can be fun, but based off my experience, the school lunches that the cafeteria provides, needs to be updated for kids!🏫🥪

I agree, as college students who are approaching finals week, we have to make sure that we eat enough food for fuel and brain power! No guilt when eating, especially these next couple weeks!
#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
This is a great reminder because I know that so many people tend to skip meals, or they feel guilty for fueling their body with food. The thing is, our bodies need food to function! Skipping meals is not for sustainable for losing weight. Treat yourself, and stay healthy! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Food = fuel AND joy (+ culture, experience, love, etc.). You’re allowed to eat without guilt. No burpees required.
April 17, 2025 at 1:14 PM
I will look for who is posting the content related to nutrition and find out their qualifications, or their sources from now on. I will focus on eating balanced food for finals, focusing a lot on a colorful plate and making sure I get healthy carbs for brain power!🍎🍊🍌🥑🫐🍆

Hi Nancy, I think this was a really great article to pick. Personally, that was the one things I was most intersted in when it was mentioned in our lecture videos this week, so thank you! I wanted to learn more!🫶
This article was both interesting and informative. Although I haven’t had much personal experience with children who have ASD, it gave me valuable insight into the challenges parents may face in meeting their children’s nutritional needs. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I think this is important for ppl to look at. I remember being about 10 years old & hearing an adult say I shouldn't eat strawberries b/c they have sugar...I beleived them! Fruits & veggies are soooo important, I can't stress it enough..Ice cream is important too! 🍓🍦
#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
"Omg fruit is full of sugar and so bad for you!" Have you considered that it's also full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber? And a fun fact is that our bodies need these nutrients so no, it's not the same as eating something like ice cream. Not that anything is wrong with ice cream.

The Importance of Good Nutrition for Kids
It is crucial to begin practicing healthy eating habits early on in your child’s life. One of the most important conversations to have with your child is the power of healthy eating.

Yes! There is also a really interesting documentary called "what the health" that is very informational on plant-based diets and how they contribute to "reversing" illnesses!

As someone who knows someone with Crohn's disease, I will definitely be forwarding this article to them! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is interesting. I do remember seeing that "seed oils were appearently bad and need to be taking out of fastfood joints cause they're killing people"...I feel like being knowledged on saturated/unsaurated fats is the pov that should be used here! The media is weird.😵‍💫

Based on Tom's story, it is very clear now that if an obese patient seeks help, they can start by taking it slow to see results. Even swapping one meal out a day for a salad, like Tom did, is a great start. It's hard to change everything right away.🥑

Hi Emilia, this is such a good point. Now that you mention it, I can agree. I never really realized the difference when I eat at home vs during school...I definetely indulge in cravings when at school! 🍩🥤
#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
A barrier that resonates with me is emotional responses like stress, which increase appetite for unhealthy foods. I noticed this after break... I was relaxed and had no cravings for unhealthy foods, but once I returned to school the stress triggered the cravings again!🍪🍿 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Considering our nutrition lesson last week on diets and how they basically don't work, I think this is important. Lifestyle and habits like sleep are bigger factors! Ppl shouldn't feel the need to cut groups of foods out of their diets to lose weight, just eat a variety!
#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
There’s a difference in choosing foods that make you feel physically better versus following rules because you “should”.

One fact from our obesity lesson that sticks with me is the percentages of children who are obese in the U.S. I wasn't aware of the percentages and how high they are. I think the obesity epidemic needs more attention and to be recognized appropriately.

This is very interesting to know! I know that coffee also has similar studies for cardiac issues and how drinking coffee can lower those risks later in life..very interesting!

"Tea drinkers were also less likely to die of a heart attack or stroke" This is interesting to me because I have recently made the switch from drinking coffee to drinking tea. Knowing that it will help me live longer solidified my decision. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This article makes a lot of important and eye-opening points. Extreme diets are indeed trending...I don't see how strictly eating only meat could ever be beneficial...research is important! Don't just believe someone who claims one thing on social media!

From this weeks article, "Gender based apathy towards diet and health" is the barrier that I can relate to most. As a woman, I feel since women anatomy plays a big role with fat storage, that contributes to thinking we constantly have to lose weight compared to men.

I think this is such an important reminder. At the end of the day, if you're craving a cupcake, just eat a cupcake instead of eating 5 different things to try and fulfill that craving. Yes, eating healthy is important, but it's okay to have some calories and sugar too!
#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
"Omg that is full of calories and full of sugar! So bad for you!" Have you ever considered that it is also full of joy, and with the dystopian reality we're currently in that's equally important? There is room for both nutrients and joy. It's possible.

A dietary supplement I looked further into was peppermint oil for digestive health and I learned it's good for IBS and muscle relaxation in the GI tract. It also reduces bloating and cramps for that reason!

One thing I am most worried about in my diet, now that I am slightly more educated, is including more fiber into my diet. I'm not even quite sure what foods exactly, have lots of fiber in them. I will have to do more research!

Emotional eating is a real thing! Personally, I used to struggle with eating when I was bored..it was a bad habit and it's still something I encounter every now-and-then. Once I learned to recognize this issue, it was easy for me to stop this habit.😌 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I'm interested in a plant-based diet. My parents ate plant based for 3 years and I enjoyed eating the meals they cooked. I'm interested b/c of the way it cleanses your body and lessons diseases in your body. I would like to do it on my own!🌱🥑

Hi Celine, my post was almost the exact same as yours because I was also sick during this assignment...convenient for us lol. I hope you're feeling better this week! I'm back to eating normally.
#beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
I wasn’t surprised by my 24 hour food recall. I think it was easy and accurate because I’m sick so I haven’t really felt like eating. Normally, I eat something simple for lunch like toast and then whatever my parents make for dinner. Sometimes I eat a fruit afterwards. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

These 6 things are similar to the dietary guidlines. Focusing on quantity and quality. Mentioning daily walks in fresh air and stress levels is good, as they are factors to nutrition assesments and what we should be looking for along with food intake!

A recipe I make often is white rice, italian chicken sausage, a variety of peppers, tomatoes, tomatoe paste, and spices. I would make this more nutrient dense by swapping the white rice out for brown rice, and keep the peppers while maybe adding more grilled veggies!🌶️
