Thinking back to November 2023 when Soledad O'Brien and Rob Reiner devoted their time and clout to this credulous conspiracy podcast about the JFK assassination. Feeding the anti-government conspiracy theory mill when there were 12 months to go before a crucial election was, IMO, a bad choice.

Home Alone makes changes to the Die Hard formula that render it hard for me to enjoy. The McClain character should feel overawed. And in theory having Kevin be a child versus adults achieves that. But the thing is: Kevin is a god. It's not just Tom & Jerry. This is some random punks versus Anansi.

Do yourself a favor, even if you don't take the time to read the full article, scan down and watch the ad video. A real moment of zen.

Trump has a thing for charismatic Muslim men.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Collaboration is the path she has been on and this is where that path goes.
Chrissy Houlahan says she is ‘profoundly disappointed’ in lack of support from GOP colleagues after Trump’s sedition accusation
The Chester County Democrat said she is "dumbfounded by the silence" from her GOP peers in Congress, who she said haven't reached out about President Donald Trump's attacks on six Democratic veterans.

It's important to understand what this ad does and why it is so threatening to the Trump admin. It gets to social identity theory, which posits that we have many identities, and the one which is salient in a given context will dictate how we think/behave in a particular situation. 1/

A year ago, I reread Steinbeck's "The Moon is Down." It is clear, there is only resistance or collaboration. The authoritarian abuses the collaborators even more harshly because he sees them as betraying HIM. Houlahan needs to ask herself why Trump chose her to be hanged.

THIS RIGHT HERE.

Politicians need to STOP pretending this madman is normal, and take whatever actions they would take if they were threatened, attacked, etc by any violent psychopath whose name ISN'T "Trump".
A member of Congress just filled out a threat report with the Capitol Police naming the President of the United States as the person making the threat.

Think of where we were on January 7, 2021 when the country overwhelmingly repudiated what had happened.

And think of where we are now.

@senategabe.bsky.social asked why more former congressional staff aren’t speaking out.

I suspect it’s because they are beholden to the family member that got them the job, who they don’t want to embarrass. Every person I know who has ever worked as congressional staff “knew somebody.”
Am I right?

Every quiet journalist is silent because deep down they know they are pigs waiting to get slaughtered.
I wish we lived in a land where if journalists heard the president call one of their colleges "piggy" or suggest another of their colleagues, who was butchered for what he wrote, in some way had it coming, they would close their laptops, leave as soon as possible, and ask to be reassigned.
