If you work (or have worked) in TV/Film in any capacity, my daughter would really love it if you could complete her survey on the impact of AI - it's for her Welsh Baccalaureate.

It's appreciated 👍

"I've never spoken to him, most people in the senior leadership team have never really heard of the guy" Zia Yusuf.

Yet he was probably the only one who didn't know him - Farage, Tice & David Bull all did. Gill, Farage & Bull were all Brexit Party MEPs at the same time ffs.

And there's this too...

Yusuf is a slimy liar -

"I have worked closely with Nathan Gill as leader of UKIP Wales...
I have always found him to be hard-working, honest, and loyal...
His removal [as leader] after a successful Welsh Assembly election campaign is unjust and an act of deep ingratitude"

Indeed every govt has to decide what to prioritise.

The 1945 Labour governent started work on creating an entire welfare state, including the NHS. Immediately. That was on top of dealing with the ravages following 6 years of war.

This lot prioritise pandering to racists.

They could have started its creation by now. Instead it was kicked into the long grass via a commission which:

"...will simply confirm what we already know - how many more reports must we endure before action is taken?"

I did too. It's rapidly becoming one of my favourite podcasts - a perfect mix of politics and laughs.

You really should do an Apprentice special, needs to have some sort of political/Wales theme though...

Not sure whether Kevin Hollinrake is delusional and believes the utter nonsense he is spouting this morning or whether it's just shameless Tory lies. Claims they know how to manage the economy, lol, that they balanced the books and had well funded public services when in power.
jimprescott.bsky.social
True. Though at least she tries to have some humour. (emphasis on "tries"). Badenoch is humourless on top of everything else...

Statement by Rhun ap Iorwerth and Liz Saville Roberts to mark two years since the 7 October 2023 attacks.

@rhunapiorwerth.bsky.social
@lsrplaid.bsky.social
Today, we remember with horror the Hamas attack on innocent Israelis on 7 October 2023.

We think of the hostages and all those whose lives were coldly ripped apart on that day. Our thoughts are also with the Jewish community in Wales, for whom this anniversary will be even more harrowing following the horrific attack on Heaton Park synagogue.

Two years on, the bloodshed continues. Over 69,000 people have been killed. Israel has committed genocide in Gaza, according to the UN commission of inquiry. Children’s futures have been stolen, families destroyed, and entire communities razed to the ground. The scale of suffering is almost unimaginable, and yet the world has allowed it to continue. This cannot go on.

A ceasefire is urgently needed. There is now a glimmer of hope as negotiations begin, but it will count for nothing until the violence stops. Gaza needs food, aid, and humanitarian access at scale – and only a ceasefire can make that possible.

The international community must do more. Governments must act decisively to end the genocide, secure the immediate release of hostages, protect civilians, and uphold international law. Every day of inaction allows more suffering – there can be no more delay.

She's the most arrogant and rude of all the UK politicians that I can think of and that is a very high bar imho

Badenoch is an utterly awful human being.

Sadly a tale as old as time although a more extreme example. Complacency or worse is a gift for the right...

"louder and more left wing than ever"

Excellent!
jimprescott.bsky.social
The issue I have with that analysis is that the US boomed but average living standards were quite stagnant. People failed to benefit day to day. That is a key issue - if the left fails to improve short term standards, it's an open goal for populists. Labour needs to take heed or will pay. 1/2
jimprescott.bsky.social
This is so true and is another trick.

In reverse, for decades media sold the left as "unelectable" - it became self fulfilling. So we got Thatcherism lite when Labour finally won.
(Ironically it was the last govt who destroyed many small state myths & made largescale state intervention OK again)
jimprescott.bsky.social
Brexit's the perfect example. Put cynically, it was the testing ground. Racism/misogyny themselves derive from the same poor education & sheltered upbringing that populism feeds on - all to mask that it's billionaires hoarding wealth & the inevitable inequality that follows who are the real problem.
jimprescott.bsky.social
Had exactly this with a client - voting reform because they were on a waiting list for hip surgery. You couldn't make it up.
jimprescott.bsky.social
Construction isn't unique in any way, it's just people often have little in the way of critical thinking - at least outside of their chosen expertise - if they have never learned the discipline via education. They are too easily swayed by simplistic arguments that sound good to them.
jimprescott.bsky.social
Uneducated people are easily influenced and billionaires by definition have a lot to influence with. I've been doing refurbishment and lost count of the tradesmen/labourers who say they like Farage or are voting Reform. They look dumbstruck when I say they're voting against their own interests.
jimprescott.bsky.social
Ordinary people are castigated for believing lies, yet so many educated people who should know better don't realise that they are as susceptible to social media nonsense as anyone else.

It's what happens when neoliberals spend decades denigrating social sciences & humanities as worthless.

I spoke to a few people, including journalists, at Labour conference who had seen and believed claims on X that Multiverse – Tony Blair's son's company – had been chosen to run the government’s new digital ID scheme

@fullfact.org have checked this claim and it is untrue
