Not sure what prompted this, but, if it was the comment by the other flotilla activist who called her “little Greta” when describing her being dragged by the hair by the IDF, it’s relevant that she’s only 4’11”.
That said, I agree there’s a line between feeling protective and infantilizing her.

as an author of a book on reparations I am intimately familiar with the move people make from "the thing you want isn't politically viable right now" to "you shouldn't want it, talk about wanting it, or even think about it" but it never stops being weird to me
It is actually peak absurdity that we still have people arguing that voters should bend to the positions of their political representatives instead of the other way around.

This is, after all, the original and authentic meaning of "stay woke." In fact, the perversion of "woke" into an epithet is perhaps the defining metaphor of our moment: Historical victims are not only being revictimized, but also mocked for never forgetting this is always a possibility in the US.
