I recently wrote the following piece about Ravi Patel's enjoyable antics on Animal Control, the single-camera sitcom that's represented in the GIF.

Wow, one of my favorite R&B jams when I was a kid! I didn't know there was a Simpsons AMV to the tune of "Don't Disturb This Groove." One thing I think this AMV should've done is add step-printing effects so that Springfield looks like the System's 1987 video, which is full of step-printing effects.

Man I can think of SO MANY, but I guess the easiest one to example would be this one made by AMV maker SwaggerLikeUz.

He was the first guy to show me AMVs could be made out of anything. (1/3)

TIL that the reason why Jessica Williams looks 10 years old in the screencap below is b/c before The Daily Show (and Shrinking), she played a tall athlete on Just for Kicks, a 2006 Nickelodeon soccer sitcom I didn't know existed. It's like finding out that Mo Rocca played one of the Little Rascals.

Which one's the better movie? The English-language 1931 Dracula starring Lugosi or the Spanish 1931 Dracula starring Carlos Villarías as Count Dracula? (I've seen only the English-language Dracula.)

This is The Heroic Trio (1993), starring Hong Kong actress trio Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Cheung, and Anita Mui.
This is the introduction scene to Anita's character, in which she battles an invisible person kidnapping new born babies.

On an unrelated note, ecstasy was popular in HK during the mid-90s.

The language of non-consent around AI is really telling. "It's too late to be scared." "It's here whether we want it or not." "You'll have to learn to work with it." "You can't fight the inevitable."

All just variations of "you're not allowed to say no." Creepy technology made by creepy people.

Alex, what are TV shows that contain a laugh track or live studio audience laughter?

Now recalling how Scott Bakula on Enterprise with firsthand experience of the rigours and impact on home life of being a US network TV lead, had specific be home in time for tea working hours in his contract and was a driving force in the show doing less episodes a year ("no one else makes 26!").

The constant soul crushing grind, long hours, multiple divorces and no social life, having to put scripts you know are crap into production because there's nothing else in the tank.

All for shows like "Molly O'Brien becomes a cave woman."

Seeing another post lamenting US TV doesn't do 26 episode seasons for most things any more is always going to be funny to me because, having read so many books on the making of things like 90s Trek, it's very clear the people making those shows fucking hated that system at the time.

Lots of talk about Robert Redford films that have been lost in his large filmography. For my money this is one of the best, Peter Yates’s THE HOT ROCK (1972). A caper or heist film? It doesn’t really matter. The point is it’s great & has one of coolest robbery crews ever assembled on celluloid

True.

I discussed Freeze and Clayface's first appearances on Batman: The Animated Series in a blog post last year.

In addition to being excellently written tragedies, "Heart of Ice" and "Feat of Clay: Part II" contain my favorite moments of animation during BTAS's run.

one of the greats. highly recommended Clearcut (apparently Greene's favourite of his own filmography), a gripping and angry political thriller about the conflict between an indigenous community and a logging company.

I watched those DVDs (and re-read Jaime Weinman and WKRP Relived's stuff on KRP) as homework for a new post I wrote on KRP + Loni Anderson. I learned that 1) Shout restored 85% of the songs + 2) a laugh track was used only occasionally, like when KRP was shot outdoors. The laughter was mostly real.

Just maybe think of Loni once in a while. It’s time to look back at 10 worthwhile WKRP in Cincinnati episodes where the late Loni Anderson shined as Jennifer Marlowe.

Dean Cain played a racist jock in a very special episode of A DIFFERENT WORLD, and his character goes on about how his grandfather "came to this country with nothing" but became successful, so "why can't you people do the same"? ("you people" means exactly who you think it means)
