100% true. The MSG ending is beautiful and I love that people go back to it whenever a new UC thing comes out. I'll defend Zeta and CCA a bit: I felt they got overhyped a bit for me back then, but are MUCH better upon rewatch when you can enjoy the small moments and character growth with no pretense

Old repaint of thief from Capcom's D&D Shadow over Mystara. Was initially a doodle on a post-it note.

Silent Hill 2

So happy with how it came out, yet never performs well anywhere I uploaded it. 8 years later I still really like it and it means a lot to me personally. I'm glad I expressed what I loved so much about this game, even if it doesn't resonate with everyone.

If you take advantage of this sale and then play Knuckle Sandwich, come back to this post afterward for the link to our tie-dyed Knuckle Sandwich shirt, which is still in stock in most sizes: fanga.me/r/an-authent...
Photo of a dark purple tie-dyed shirt with a very large, vibrant yellow, green, and pink print. A burger with all the fixins and a bright green fist is surrounded by splattering text reading KNUCKLE SANDWICH.

Episode 18 is live! I mean it's one Bananza, Michael. What could it cost? $20?

Why are AAA games too expensive yet indie games are too cheap? We talk about how to game under hard times and recommend some incredible games that are 100% FREE.

Two business slimes grimace at the price of Bananza. $80? No, it's actually $100 with the DLC.

It's a collection of 50 games made by various devs. The hook is that there is a narrative to it all: in-universe it is the full LX system library thought to have been lost to time. Each game is a timestamp of the consoles' history. It captures the essence and wonder discovering retro games.

UFO 50 is my favorite game of 2024 and I still play it regularly. I'm about to finish Grimstone and got the Bug Hunter cherry. This game collection is so good and amazing. Please try it!

I'm telling you Custom Robo fans rule. They got like 5 games and instead of complaining they didn't get more they just go back and play them

Starting to think that until I properly update my portfolio I will continue to get waitlisted from cons ☹️ that or it's finally time to hang up the hat on that hustle...
jmanvelez.bsky.social
I'd really like to get this one. DM'd ya

This is valid, but also keep in mind that most successful titles are rarely the first work of a creator. No one comes from nowhere, there's always a history behind every artist and you are building yours.

So people wanted Silksong to be Mega Man X2 but instead they got Mega Man Zero, which sounds like a good time to me.

This convo I had highlights the difference in what "respect your time" means in games.

A lot of players want to trade time for in-game progress. It's purely transactional: 1 hour = 1 progress

But I want to feel like my actions matter i.e. what I do with time creates progress, not time itself.
Derek says: "In theory, games are the perfect place to teach that failure is not only okay but a necessary stepping stone to success. But now it's so easy to switch to a game with guaranteed progress, so games with consequences for failure are more risky to make, creating a cycle."

Other person replies: "IMO the issue is that failure is usually discouraged. At best you just lose time, at worst you get extra punishment (loss of XP for example). Both just feel like you lost (limited) gametime for nothing. IMO also a reason why meta-progression is popular. Respect the player's time"

Derek replies: "Hmmm... the thing is, my time feels more disrespected when I realize my actions don't really matter? Like, if no matter what I do, I make progress, that feels like more of a waste of my time, personally."
