To be clear: baseball season never ended. Thanks to all the great winter leagues, there’s been baseball to watch almost every single day since the World Series ended — trust me, I’ve watched as much of it as possible!!

But now, MLB is up! And the WBC!!

BASEBALL IS THE BEST !!!

As Oliver Hardy would say, "Another fine mess".... as Trump is trying to not just void the 17th Amendment, but seeks to bypass ratifying the change by the voters approving this by vote in each state. Otherwise he's not got time to pass it in Congress to be voted on by each state before November

Big thanks to Ryan, Adam, and Anthony from here!
Two hours to go, so time to say thank you to the two guys who make this ballot tracking project possible: @shutthedore.bsky.social and @tonycal.bsky.social. I could not and would not want to do this without them. Thanks for all your continued excellent work, Adam and Anthony!

The fact that Félix Hernández, Andy Pettitte and even Cole Hamels could all be Hall-of-Famers at some point is proof that the standards for pitchers in Cooperstown are (understandably) changing.

Thanks to @jayjaffe.bsky.social & @notmrtibbs.com for their help with this.

The Days of the 300-Win Hall of Famer Are Gone Forever
Shorter starts, fewer victories, and higher earned run averages mean that voters are reconsidering what it takes for pitchers to get into Cooperstown.

Ballot #210 is from Matt Breen. He adds Félix Hernández (now net +43) and Andy Pettitte, who becomes the second candidate at +30 this cycle and is now tied for 20th on our all-time pre-results net gain leaderboard. Hamels also picks up Breen’s vote.

Mariners icon Félix Hernández likely won’t be elected into the National Baseball Hall of Fame during this voting cycle. But there's new hope he could get in someday.
